BTWF roles: Paget Brewster on Strange America
April 26th, 2016 under Before They Were Famous. [ Comments: none ]

Before Paget Brewster was an uptight grandmother on Grandfathered, she was sexy Rock star on Strange America. She looks the same now as she did when she was 24 in that 1993 episode.

Someone found a way to muzzle Simon Cowell!
April 26th, 2016 under America's Got Talent, Simon Cowell. [ Comments: none ]

For over a decade, people have wondered is there a way to silence Simon Cowell and America’s Got Talent found a way to do it. They made like Silence of the Lambs, put him in a straight jacket with a muzzle over his mouth, and he never looked and sounded better. Sadly, though they freed him from his confine. It was nice and quiet while it lasted!

Kelly Ripa got Michael Strahan to give two weeks notice?

Remember when Michael Strahan announced last week that he was leaving Live with Kelly and Michael to go to Good Morning America and he said that he would stay until September? Things changed.
Shortly after Kelly Ripa made her return to the show, it was revealed that her co-host would be not be staying until September. In fact, he is leaving a lot earlier because his last day is May 13th.
ABC released this statement to People about his much earlier departure:

After meeting with the producers of both Live! and Good Morning America, and after speaking with Kelly and Michael, we have decided on a plan that best advantages both shows for the future.”
To that end, Michael’s last day on Live! will be on Friday, May 13, which not only gives the show the chance to have a nice send-off for him during the May book, but to also immediately begin the on-air search for a new co-host.
This plan also allows GMA to start integrating Michael into the show more often this summer before his full-time start in September.

This is what they should’ve done in the first place. This makes total sense.
But let’s be honest, who thinks they are doing to test out co-anchors for her and start him on GMA early? We are all thinking that they are doing this because this was probably was one of the agreements that Ripa made with the head honchos at ABC to get her back on the show today.
When it comes to Strahan, I am sure he is doing a dance like the one above to celebrate that he is out of there in just over two weeks.

Michelle Williams talks about Shia LaBeouf’s arrest at her show
April 26th, 2016 under Dawsons Creek, Shia LaBeouf, Stephen Colbert. [ Comments: none ]

Remember about two years ago, when Shia LaBeouf got arrested at a Broadway show? Well that show was Cabaret and Michelle Williams was starring in it at that time. Up until now, at least from what I can remember, she hasn’t talked about that incident. Yesterday, she broke her silence on The Late Show and she told Stephen Colbert how she felt about it.
You would think she would be upset about it, but it was quite the opposite. She said, “I got to tell you the truth about that night. I thought he was the best audience member we ever had.” Then she explained, “I didn’t know it was him. Oh he was wonderful, he was wonderful, he was so excited. He was so effusive with his applause and shouting and cheering.”
Then when she got offstage, someone asked her if she knew what had just happened. She told them, “Yeah, I am nailing it! They loved me. I mean, I am on fire tonight.” Which explains why she absolutely loved him that night.
Would she want to go through that again? She, “would love for him to come back to see this show (Blackbird).”
You can’t blame her. Stage actors feed off of audience feedback and he was giving her the best audience ever.
So Shia if you are in NYC, not only does Williams want you to see her new play, so do we. So do we!

Kelly Ripa is back and she has something to say
April 26th, 2016 under Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. [ Comments: none ]

For the first time in nearly week, Kelly Ripa was back on Live with Kelly and Michael. She could’ve let what has transpired go unnoticed, but instead she made a speech at the beginning of the show.

Guys, guys, guys. Our long national nightmare is over.
Please, sit down. Please, be seated. Look — I’m going to be completely honest — I’m fairly certain that there are trained professional snipers with tranquilizer darts in case I drift too far off message.
I first want to honestly, sincerely thank you for welcoming me back to the show. The love, the show of support through this bizarre time has been really overwhelming. I really, I needed a couple of days to gather my thoughts. After 26 years with this company, I earned the right. And let’s be honest, I know half of you called in sick to be here, so we get each other!
In that time, I gained some perspective. I always speak from the heart. I didn’t want to come out here and just, like, say something I might regret. So what transpired though, over the course of a few days, has been extraordinary in the sense that it started a much greater conversation about communication and consideration and, most importantly, respect in the workplace.
And since we’re being honest, I don’t consider this just a ‘workplace.’ This is my second home. This is a place that I’ve devoted myself to, not just because of you, our loyal viewers, but because of all of the producers and the crew who work on this show. We have an incredible team. We are incredibly devoted to one another. We are family. Apologies have been made, and the best thing to come out of all of this, you guys, is that our parent company has assured me that “Live” is a priority.
Guys, calm down, they didn’t say anything about Christmas bonuses.
But there is a commitment to this show; and to the people that work here; and most importantly to you, the viewers, who have watched us every day for 30 years.
I am thrilled for Michael. I’m thrilled for you. This is a tremendous opportunity and I couldn’t be, and we couldn’t be, prouder of you. And everything we accomplished together.
So, back to the show. This is entertainment. It’s supposed to be entertaining! So let’s get back to what we do best and start the show.
Oh, wait. Incidentally, I just want to say one thing. My dad, who was a bus driver for 30 years, thinks we’re all crazy!
And I think he’s right. I think he’s right.

The most glaring part of this speech is that she did it standing up, away from her co-host Michael Strahan. Proving to most people that the rumors are true and they don’t get along. You can also tell in her speech she is bitter, and by the way ABC employees have been treated, to me, under Ben Sherwood, I get where she is coming from.
You can’t keep promoting and firing people and letting their co-workers find out about in the press. You need to make them feel like their workplace is a family, a home, and keep their morale high. If not, ABC will be in more trouble than it already is in. And it sounds like Ripa’s stand might be what the network brass needed to understand they can’t keep playing that game anymore.
Not only will they be alienating their workers, they will also be alienating their fans too. I am not mad about how they handled the Castle firings, I am just mad that they did it. Enough for me to switch the channel when it is on next season. I will suffer through the rest of this one before I say goodbye to the show.
Back to Ripa, I think she acted like a baby. This is what happens at a job. But then again if more people took a stand like she did, it might not be the case?
How do you feel about it all after hearing her speak for the first time since Michael Strahan announced that he is leaving?
