Michael J Fox’s Parkinson’s diagnosis is a Fun Fact to E!?
January 13th, 2014 under E!, Michael J Fox. [ Comments: none ]

We all know that E!’s red carpet coverage is always a red hot mess and yesterday they made a big mess with some information they put up in a graphic. They had a Fun Fact chyron that read, “Michael J. Fox was diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease in 1991.” That is a fact, yes. But it is far from being a fun fact and people were pissed by their mistake. Including me.
Viewers were so upset that E! issued this statement, “We regret the insensitive classification of Michael J Fox’s Parkinson’s diagnosis during our Eonline live stream. We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologize.” Too little, too late.
If they want to make amends, then they can cancel Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Then maybe I will start to forgive them.

Miley Cyrus Tweeted this photo of herself with some big fake teeth. On a positive note, she isn’t sticking her tongue out in it. On a negative note, fill in the blanks!

Duran Duran wants us to know they’re not happy with Yoplait
January 11th, 2014 under Ads, Duran Duran. [ Comments: none ]

Yoplait used Duran Duran‘s song Hungry Like the Wolf in an ad and the band took their website today to express their displeasure about it.

Many of you have written to us, voicing your dismay about the recent license of our song Hungry Like the Wolf, to a yoghurt commercial. Please know, Duran Duran do not support this usage of their music and unfortunately, this particular license was granted without any prior notification to any of us. Had we known, under no circumstances would we have backed it.
Thankfully, the ad has now been taken off the air and moving forward we hope to avoid any further situations like this.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with the song’s usage in this commercial. I don’t think it is that bad. To be honest, I prefer this to what H&M did their hit Girls on Film.
But what is really interesting about their message, is that we found out that musicians don’t always have control over who uses their tunes. It’s sad that they don’t have power over their own music. I wonder how many other musicians have been in D²’s situation and what advertisements used their songs without their permission. I’d like to think that is what happened to Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman because I detest the M&M’s commercial with I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).

Words of Wizdumb from Josh Groban!
January 11th, 2014 under Josh Groban, Words of Wizdumb. [ Comments: none ]

Josh Groban took to Twitter to ask his followers a question that has stumped the masses for ages. OK, it stumped me when I read it.
Anyways the question he asked is, “If I drop a bar of soap on the ground, does the soap get dirty or does the ground get clean?” I would say if he ever drops a bar of soap while taking a shower in a jail, then he is going to feel very dirty. Therefore the soap gets dirty. But he will use that soap to try to feel clean afterwards. Thus the ground gets clean. Dang it, I don’t know how to answer this question. So how would you answer it?
