(starts at :38 in)

Before Nicolas Wright was the slacker on Accidentally on Purpose, he was the guy getting a beat down with ketchup from one in King’s Ransom. How different does he look in that 2005 movie without the beard?

Ricky Gervais to host the Golden Globes

The Golden Globes is breaking a 15 year tradition of having no host for their show, by having Ricky Gervais MC the night. He told People, “Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry, which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host,” Gervais said Monday. “I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don’t turn down.”. As funny as I think Ricky is and as good as a host I think he will be, I don’t think he is enough to get me to watch another awards show. Especially when all of them except for the Oscars are airing in January because of the Olympics. It is going to be one crazy awards season in 2010.

Get to know the SYTYCD Top 20 tonight
October 26th, 2009 under SYTYCD. [ Comments: none ]

For the first time in Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance’s history they will air an episode where we get to Meet the Top 20. “This special episode will showcase each of the dancers in their own style and genre and will feature group numbers choreographed by some of America ’s favorite choreographers. Viewers will get a chance to learn more about the dancers, and then at the end of the show, the judges – Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Adam Shankman – will pair the Top 20 with their partners for the first performance show airing the following evening.” The idea is so simple, I wonder why they didn’t think of it before. It will be nice to get to know the dancers doing what they do best before they are paired up doing styles that are new to them.
BTW we also get to know them a little better before we get to vote for them because of the World Series (Go Yankees!!!) the judges will be voting off the first two couples. We do not get to vote until the third week, and I have to admit I don’t like that idea because our favorites after tonight’s 8p special might be voted off before we ever get a chance to do it ourselves.

UPDATE: Billy Bell has dropped out of the competition because of an undisclosed illness. “We are disappointed that Billy cannot continue dancing in the competition on the advice of his doctor and wish him a speedy recovery,” said executive producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe. “However, we are fortunate that Brandon Dumlao has agreed to return.”
