The Fonz as Captain Hook |

Oh Happy Days – The Fonz is to star in panto this Christmas. Actor Henry Winkler will play Captain Hook in Peter Pan at London’s New Wimbledon Theatre. David Hasselhoff was originally offered the role but pulled out to appear on Simon Cowell’s new US show America’s Got Talent. Winkler, 60, will co-star with entertainer Bobby Davro. The show marks his British stage debut. "I’m thrilled to be doing this and I’m honoured to be one of the first Americans invited to appear in panto. We don’t have panto in America and it sounds unbelievably fun," he said. "I love the Peter Pan story and I love Captain Hook. He’s a villain but, hey, he had his hand bitten off by a crocodile – you have to feel some sympathy for the guy." Winkler, whose film credits include Scream and The Waterboy, found fame as Arthur ‘Fonz’ Fonzarelli in hit show Happy Days. It ran from 1974-84 and the character became an icon – with The Fonz always sporting his trademark biker jacket and Elvis quiff. "I won’t be bringing too much of The Fonz into Captain Hook because it might get confusing for the audience – but I may keep the quiff under my wig just for old times’ sake," Winkler said. The show opens on December 8 and runs until January 14. Producer Kevin Wood said: "Henry was an obvious choice for us. He is a brilliant actor and is known for his larger than life performances as The Fonz across the globe. Parents will know and remember him fondly and a new generation of children will get to know his unique sense of humour."

Liv Tyler bothered by the pressure to lose baby weight immediately |

Liv Tyler has slammed celebrities who lose weight too quickly after giving birth. The ‘Lord of the Rings’ star gave birth to her son, Milo, with musician Royston Langdon, in December 2004, and insists she had no desire to lose her pregnancy weight quickly, despite the pressure on actresses to stay thin. She told Britain’s OK! magazine: "Dieting is always a pain. I wanted to enjoy my time out with my son and not be frantic and miserable about not eating and working out. "It bothers me that there is this culture about having to immediately lose you extra weight and I wasn’t interested in getting into that." Liv, 29, says 20 months after giving birth she is still struggling to shift the last of her pregnancy pounds. She added: "I’ve been having a hard time losing the last bit of weight I’d gained during my pregnancy.

Adam Ant: ‘angel Heather Saved My Life’. British pop singer ADAM ANT has revealed how the relationship he had with Hollywood actress HEATHER GRAHAM saved him from depression and suicide. The PRINCE CHARMING star, real name STUART LESLIE GODDARD, met Graham when she was a 24-year-old drama student in 1993. And the troubled musician, who was dealing with deep depression and panic attacks at the time, soon fell deeply in love with Graham, calling her his "angel". Goddard says, "With her pure blue eyes and gentle smile, Heather seemed like an angel to me. She was beautiful but unaffected by the effect she had on men. "I was instantly mesmerised. This was serious. It didn’t create the usual desire to run a mile when a relationship got serious. My diary is full of love for Heather – I was using the word without fear.

Cyril Wecht to perform the 2nd autopsy on Daniel Smith |

A pathologist who consulted in the death investigations of Elvis Presley and JonBenet Ramsey said Saturday Anna Nicole Smith had hired him to perform a repeat autopsy on her son. Daniel Wayne Smith, 20, died Sept. 10 in a hospital room where the reality TV star and former Playboy model was recuperating from giving birth three days earlier. Investigators have said they did not find evidence of drugs in the room or obvious signs of a crime. The Bahamas coroner’s office, which labeled the death “suspicious” because the cause was unclear, performed an autopsy Tuesday and ordered further analysis, including a toxicology test to be completed next week. Cyril Wecht, a forensic pathologist from Pittsburgh famous for his expertise on celebrity death investigations, told The Associated Press by phone that he had been hired to examine the remains of Daniel Smith. Wecht, reached in Arizona where he had been attending a professional conference, said he hoped to reach the Bahamas on Saturday night but might not arrive until Sunday. He declined to comment on his role in the Smith case. “There’s nothing to comment on,” he said. “I just have to get there and see what’s happening.” Wecht, 75, is facing trial on charges he used his staff when he was the Allegheny County coroner to do work for his multimillion-dollar private pathology practice. He resigned from office in January. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review said in Saturday that a judge approved Wecht’s trip to the Bahamas but he had to return to Pittsburgh in time for a pretrial conference Monday. Wecht, who holds a law degree in addition to a medical degree, gained celebrity as a critic of the Warren Commission investigation of John F. Kennedy’s assassination. He has worked as a consultant on such cases as Presley’s death and the slaying of Laci Peterson, and often weighs in on big cases in the news as a television commentator. Head coroner Linda Virgill, who granted the family’s request to bring in an independent examiner, said Friday that it was not an unusual step. She confirmed that a pathologist from the U.S. would perform the exam Sunday at a public morgue. A guard on Saturday prevented reporters from approaching the gate outside Smith’s home in the Bahamas, a whitewashed mansion perched at the ocean’s edge. A local attorney for the 38-year-old TV star has declined to comment on why she was seeking a second autopsy. Reginald Ferguson, assistant commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, said Friday that although there were no obvious signs of criminal wrongdoing in the death, it was too early to draw conclusions. An inquest that could lead to the filing of criminal charges is scheduled to begin Oct. 23. Witnesses including Smith, hospital staff and others who saw her son, were expected to be summoned. Smith, who came to this island chain during her pregnancy to avoid media scrutiny, is free to leave the Bahamas, authorities have said. Daniel Smith was the son of Anna Nicole and Bill Smith, who married in 1985 and divorced two years later. The son had small roles in her movies “Skyscraper” and “To the Limit.” He also appeared several times on the E! reality series “The Anna Nicole Show.”
