About a month ago, NBC announced their 2026-2027 season, and The Hunting Party was not on it. They said they had not made a decision on the series’ future.
Today, they have. And just like a Daffy Duck during duck season, the show is dead.
However, Deadline says the drama is being shopped around. So it might make like a Looney Tunes and be resurrected.
Rent is turning 30 this year, and the original cast is going to celebrate the milestone with a one-night-only charity event produced by Broadway Cares.
“Jonathan [Larson] wrote Rent in honor of the people he knew who were living and struggling with HIV and in honor of the many friends and contemporaries he lost to AIDS,” Rent’s original director, five-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, said. “I know he’d be proud and honored to join forces with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS to celebrate the 30th year anniversary of his milestone musical.”
The celebration is sold out, but that doesn’t mean you cannot watch it live. The League of Live Stream Theater is providing a livestream of the October 26th performance at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. You can get tickets here.
