How does Roseanne Barr feel about Tom Arnold after all these years? |
November 20th, 2006 under Roseanne, Tom Arnold, Whatever happened to.... [ Comments: none ]

Tom Arnold extended an olive branch to ex-wife Roseanne Barr on Saturday. It didn’t go well. Early in TBS’ live telecast of "Comic Relief" from Caesars Palace, Arnold offered to let bygones be bygones during his appearance from New Orleans. Barr, who has traded insults with Arnold for years since their messy divorce, had other ideas when she took the stage in Las Vegas. "I don’t think we should hang Saddam Hussein. That’s too good for the bastard," she said. "I think he should have to marry Tom Arnold."

I am sorry, but that was way too funny not share…he he!

With a Rebel Yule |
November 10th, 2006 under 80s, Christmas Music, Whatever happened to.... [ Comments: none ]

If you’re searching for signs of the Apocalypse and presume that it’s nigh, look no further than this: Billy Idol — Billy Idol! — cutting his very own Christmas album. And I swear this is genuine and not a joke (at least not in the conventional sense). Don’t believe me? Just looky here. Or here. Just don’t stare too long at that CD cover or it could well cause a seizure. The cheeseball shot — which evidently is meant to be serious rather than ironic — is pretty much guaranteed to get you all kinds of creeped out, with Billy sitting at a piano looking disturbingly like the lounge lizard love child of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Robert Goulet. Oh my f—ing God, you say? Well, the bleached spiky-haired, sneering, "Rebel Yell" hellraiser of yore is 50 now (51 on Nov. 30). He’s got an 18-year-old son. It was perhaps inevitable that William Michael Albert Broad would mellow into the mainstream. But not this main. Middle-aged is one thing, middle-of-the-road quite another when your past is all sex, drugs, motorcycles and rock ‘n’ roll. I mean, Billy Idol singing…"Silver Bells"? And "Frosty the Snowman"? And "Here Comes Santa Claus"? And "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"? And "White Christmas"? And "Let It Snow"? And "Silent Friggin’ Night"? (The Friggin’ is my addition.)
Past Deadline
I just do not know what to say to that, what can you say to that? In the meantime while I try to get my composure back, listen to a song from the album on Billy Idol’s MySpace page.
Now that I have my composure back…I came up with some song titles for the album:
1 – Rebel Yule 2 – (Rockin’ the) Christmas of Love 3 – Dancing with Myself (under the mistletoe) 4 – Gifts for Fantasy 5 – Cold in the City 6 – White Christmas 7 – Money Money

Julie Andrews will SING at the Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade |
November 7th, 2006 under Julie Andrews, Whatever happened to.... [ Comments: none ]

Julie Andrews will not only ride in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, she’ll also be singing. Or at least lip synching to the loud speakers amplifying her to the millions of viewers — live and televised. She’ll be aboard the new Story Book float boasting the super-charming book, "The Great American Mousical" written by Julie and daughter Emma Walton Hamilton. The song is "The Show Must Go On" written by Julie, Emma, Inda Eaton and Annamarie McCoy with orchestration by Ian Fraser. A CD will be sold at Julie’s book-signing Nov.26 at Macy’s. It’s the first time Julie’s sung (only seven notes), since her throat surgery nine years ago. (Well, it’s the second time. She toasted my column’s 50th anniversary, April 23, 2002 at the Beverly Hilton, singing, "I’ve Grown Accustomed to His SPACE").

OMG! I can’t wait to hear how she sounds!

Paul Newman and Robert Reford together again! |
November 7th, 2006 under Whatever happened to.... [ Comments: none ]
|
It is more than 20 years since their partnership last lit up the screen – but for film fans of a certain age there’s still something magical about a rare Paul Newman (Butch Cassidy) and Robert Redford (The Kid) reunion. The occasion was the 25th anniversary of Robert Redford’s Sundance Institute, founded by the star when he was at the height of his fame to encourage independent film makers. Asked what had brought him out for a rare public appearance Newman, 81, wearing a sweatshirt on which he appeared to have written I Never Had A Crappy Gig Until Tonight, answered with one word: "Redford."
Redford keeps getting better with age!
