It has been nine years since Susan Lucci said goodbye to her iconic All My Children character, but yesterday she transformed into Erica Kane for Jimmy Fallon’s The Longest Days of our Lives.
What is that? It is a weekly soap opera that airs on The Tonight Show, and it stars Fallon, Will Ferrell, and Kristen Wiig. Yesterday, they had some special guest stars like Lucci. She was not the only soap star because it also included Days’ Mary Beth Evans, General Hospital’s Maurice Bernard, and Dynasty’s Heather Locklear. There was some guy named Jake Gyllenhaal that was also part of it.
Anyways they all did it to help raise money for the Actor’s Fund that supports actors and crew members who are out of work due to COVID-19.
As of this Friday, there will be no new episodes of The Young & The Restless and The Bold & The Beautiful. What are they going to do?
Starting next week, they will be doing theme weeks. Y&R will be airing episodes with the show’s late matriarch Jeanne Cooper, who played Katherine Chancellor, while B&B will be re-airing Escape to Monte Carlo all week.
After that, who knows? But they will be continuing with the themes.
When it comes to the other soap operas, Days of Our Lives has months of episodes in the can and General Hospital should be good until June. They have only been airing episodes four days a week.

Ever since the final week of 1988, The Young and the Restless has been the #1 soap opera in the ratings. However, Showbizz411 is reporting that last week it lost that title to CBS’s other soap, The Bold and the Beautiful. I guess you can say it was bold of them to do and it was not a beautiful thing for Y&R.
Yet, we can say it was quite an accomplishment for Y&R. Thirty-one years as #1 is something to be extremely proud of. How many other things can say they have been #1 for that long? I can’t think of anything, can you?

The awards show has been struggling to find a home for the last few years. I wonder if they will go on after the pandemic is over, and last year’s show was not the last one. I hope it does go on. These are some of the hardest working people in the business and deserve to be recognized.
However, they did say, “Judging continues, and we look forward to announcing our incredibly talented nominees later this Spring. We are working on some interesting alternative ideas for how to best recognize the honorees later this year and will share more details in the weeks ahead.”
