Miracle Workers is back and it is going dark as in The Dark Ages
January 28th, 2020 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

During the first season of Miracle Workers on TBS, Steve Buschemi was Gd, and he wanted to destroy Earth. Tonight at 10:30p, they are back in the Middle Ages, and Buschemi is now a sh!t shoveler. Name one other show where an actor can go from the best job to the worst? However, that is just one hysterical changes on Miracle Workers: The Dark Ages.

Daniel Radcliffe went for a level employee to a Prince. Prince Chauncley is the son of a King who is a tyrant and loves to kill people. His son, not so much. He is trying to find his way in the World, and he sucks at all of it.

Thankfully, he has Lord Chris Vexler (Karan Soni) to help him out. He is good at putting up with people who suck at their job because last season, he was Gd’s handler.

Finally, there is Alexandra Shitshoveler (Geraldine Viswanathan). She thinks there is a World outside her small village. Just like last season, she is trying to fight the system. Yet, she is still trapped in her town and stuck working with her dad, shoveling sh!t. Somehow, her not-as-smart brother Mikey Shitshoveler (Jon Bass) is able to escape her job. Yet, he remains merry, as you will see in an upcoming episode.

Now you know the characters, what about their daily lives? They are just trying to survive in a time when people are publically executed. A time when your job was their last name and the World was flat.

Oh, and did I mention that the Prince has taken a fancy on Alexandra Shitshoveler? Take that Megha,n Markle. She is doing a much bigger jump to Princess than you did.

Miracle Workers is a show, unlike anything else on television. Whether it takes place in heaven or in the past. It is a show that makes you laugh because it is so absurd. It is so out there it is brilliant and hilarious. Therefore, make sure to watch it every Tuesday night at 10:30p on TBS. It is not a history lesson, but you will learn to love it as you soon as you tune in.

Miracle Workers is miraculous!
February 12th, 2019 under Harry Potter, TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

When I read about Miracle Workers, I was like this comedy can either work or fail big time. Then when I got the screeners, I had to watch it immediately to see which way it was going to go. It goes straight up to heaven! Like when the clouds split open, the harp plays as it welcomes it to the Pearly Gates. Ahhhhh!

Miracle Workers debuts at 10:30p tonight on TBS and you do not want to miss it. If you do, then you will face the wrath of Gd. That is because the show is about him. Steve Buscemi plays Gd as the divine one has never been played before. He is basically an unlikable nincompoop who is not the brightest star in the universe. Then one day he decides that he does not like what is going on down on Earth, so he decides to destroy it.

Craig (Daniel Radcliffe) works in the prayer department at Heaven, Inc. and he has been doing it alone for the last 10,000 years. After doing it for so long all by himself, he finally gets a co-worker. Eliza (Geraldine Viswanathan) is a positive overachiever who thinks she can do it all. Therefore, when she hears Gd wants to destroy our planet, she chooses to make a deal with the Lord to save it. All she and Craig have to do is make one prayer come true. In other words, a miracle. Sounds easy, but is impossible. Especially, when they keep hitting obstacle after obstacle. Yet, they won’t give up.

As the weeks go on, they will get some help from Gd’s personal assistants (Karan Soni and Lolly Adefope). They cannot stand working for Gd because he has no idea what he is doing and they spend their whole day cleaning up his many messes. They are not the only ones who hate him, so do his parents (yes he has them), his siblings and everyone else at Heaven, Inc.

When Gd says he is going put an end to Earth, the day cannot come soon enough for everyone in Heaven. They are all ready to move on. What happens when our fab four need them to make their miracle happen? Will they help them save Earth or let Gd blow it up.

I cannot tell you that. What I can say is it will all be resolved by the end of the season. That and this is a thoroughly awesome show. You will love it because it is a sweet quirky comedy. It is one of those shows that you instantly fall in love with and enjoy every single minute. You will love the concept, the writing, the characters, you will love it all. It is the best-written thing since the Bible. Too far!

Anyways, I have never seen anything else like it. Who knew you can make a show where Hashem is not perfect, far from it, and yet it is one of the greatest shows you have seen. It is not sacrilegious, it is just good innocent addictive fun.

Like I said, you better watch it because you do not want to piss off the man upstairs.

I Am the Night is suspenseful mystery with an exciting pay off
January 28th, 2019 under Chris Pine, TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

https://youtu.be/wcxAaIfKBeI
I Am the Night is a subplot of a story we thought we already knew. Tonight at 9p on TNT, watch the tale be told in a miniseries that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the first minute until the last one.

There have been several scandals throughout the decades, and one of the first ones was the murder of actress Elizabeth Short aka the Black Dahlia. To this day it is unsolved, and some believe that one of the biggest doctors of that time is the killer and the gynecologist was also of performing abortions which were illegal in 1947. He was very rich and had the police in his pocket. That is why he was able to get away with murder.

Jay Singletary (Chris Pine) was a newspaper reporter, who covered Dr. George Hodel’s (Jefferson Mays) trial. The doctor was accused of sexually abusing his teenage daughter, Tamar, but no one believed her. Shortly afterward the trial she died. Not before having a daughter that she gave to an African-American woman because the baby’s father was black.

Jimmy Lee (Golden Brooks) raised that girl as her own as an African-American even though she looks white. Back in the mid-’60s, America was still very segregated and Fauna (India Eisley) is pretty much hated by everyone for being black and looking white.

Fauna is your normal teenager who is constantly fighting with her mom. She decides she has had enough and wants to meet her real mom. Therefore, she runs away to LA to find out more about Tamar. She finds out that not only is her mom dead, but no wants to talk about her either.

Jay finds out about her and he thinks she will be the answer to everything about her grandfather he wants to know. Therefore, he seeks her out. The two join forces to find out more about her mom. Each answer brings them closer to finding out the truth. As someone once said, “You can’t handle the truth.” Can they when they finally are faced with it?

It is a shocking ending to the real-life story of a girl, who was lied to her entire life, only to learn the truth is something she did not want to know. It is a good vs evil story and both sides will be winners and losers in this captivating 6-part limited series.

I did not know that the actress playing Fauna is the same one who was the little sister on The Secret Life of an American Teenager until after I watched the finale. She was good on that show and she will blow you away on this one. I will be shocked if she is not nominated for the big award for her role. I expect the same for Pine, who plays a drunk newsman who can’t stop fighting with everyone who stands in his way. He made his acting debut before he was even born and it shows that he was born to do this.

Then there is Patty Jenkins, who knows how to turn a real-life into making it something you want to know more about without Googling to find out what happens next. Not many directors can do what she does and do it so well.

The limited series has some slow moments, but it all preparing you for a final episode that is a real nail-biter. It is cold outside, so no one wants to be in it. Stay inside and watch a thriller so hot, you will not to put the heat on in your house.

Ever wonder how they did that pole licking scene in A Christmas Story
December 4th, 2018 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Whether you have seen A Christmas Story once or a million times, you know that scene where the boy licks the pole after he was tripple dog dared to do it and his tongue gets stuck to it.

How did the producers make that moment look so authentic? TBS revealed that very secret. They did not use a real metal flagpole on an ice-cold day. Instead, they made a fake one that had a hole in it. Behind the hole was a vacuum that created a sucking effect.

In a way, Scott Schwartz got his first French kiss. Let’s be honest, we all had a partner who kissed like a vacuum cleaner.

Don’t forget you can watch the movie again and again this Christmas during their TBS 24-hour marathon of it. Contrary to the rumors, it was not cancelled.

Did TBS cancel the A Christmas Story marathon?
November 29th, 2018 under TNT/TBS/TCM. [ Comments: none ]

Every December 25th, TBS airs A Christmas Story 24-hour marathon that starts on Christmas Eve. People look forward to it, otherwise, they would not be doing it over and over again. But, could this year be without it? Some site, that is now on Santa’s naughty list, is reporting they pulled the plug on the beloved movie.

Oh no, it is like when WPIX cancelled the Yule Log all over again. Fear not because like that fire, it is going on and on. That is because TBS wanted to let us all know, “We are NOT cancelling our ‘A Christmas Story’ marathon! #LegLampForever.”

To honor the happy news, let’s all stick our tongues on a frozen pole. What is the worst that can happen?
