That was boring, if you are going to have a bench (what do you call it in football/soccer) clearing fight I want blood like baseball. That was nothing. If they want viewers let’s get some good brawls going on!!!
Fox has apologized for showing a T-shirt with the slogan “f()ck da Eagles” in primetime during its coverage of the New Orleans Saints/Philadelphia Eagles NFL playoff game Saturday, Jan. 13. Unlike much live TV programming these days, the game had no delay. “It was unintentional, inadvertent, and we apologize,” said Fox Sports spokesman Dan Bell. The Parents Television Council has asked its members to complain to the FCC about the on-camera profanity, saying it had “no doubt” it was intentional. But the FCC would be unlikely to act on that or any other profanity complaints until a federal court has ruled on a challenge by broadcasters, including Fox, to its new profanity-enforcement policy.
An Indian runner who won a silver medal in the women’s 800-meter run at the Asian Games earlier this month has failed a gender test and is likely to be stripped of her medal, news reports said Monday. Santhi Soudarajan, 25, was made to take the gender test in Doha, Qatar after her victory. The test reports sent to the Indian Olympic Association on Sunday say said she "does not possess the sexual characteristics of a woman," The Times of India reported. The test was administered by a medical commission set up by the games’ organizers. During an awards ceremony held in her native province Monday, Santhi said, "I do not want to talk about it," when asked about the failed tests. There are no compulsory gender tests during events sanctioned by the International Association of Athletics Federation, but athletes can be asked to take a gender test. The medical evaluation panel usually includes a gynecologist, endocrinologist, psychologist, and an internal medicine specialist. Dr. Manmohan Singh, chairman of the medical commission of the Indian Olympic Association told the Indian Express newspaper that the Olympic Council of Asia had been informed of the results of Soudarajan’s gender test. It was not unclear whether Santhi, who comes from a poor family, had undergone a sex change procedure in the past, reports The Times of India. Sports officials in the athlete’s home state of Tamil Nadu said that they have no information on her whereabouts. "If the reports are true, then it is very sad and extremely disappointing," her coach, P. Nagarajan, told the Indian Express.
Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConaughey are taking those brokeback buddy rumors by the horns. Speculation that the Tour de France champ and the actor might be more than friends started last summer, when they were photographed together (with shirts on and off) shortly after McConaughey split with Penelope Cruz and Armstrong broke up with Sheryl Crow. Asked in November’s Details about the gay rumors, McConaughey deadpans: "We tried it. Wasn’t for us." Armstrong obviously finds the gossip less amusing. "We all have buds, we all take guy trips, but you take something very normal and put it in a magazine and people start talking," he says. "It’s like, either you sleep with everything that moves or you’re gay." After he broke up with Crow, Armstrong had hoped to drive across the country to "get back in touch with himself," the mag says. He put the brakes on the trip after learning she had breast cancer. The reason for the split? "We couldn’t get it right, we couldn’t get it wrong," he says cryptically. The LiveStrong crusader also talks about butting heads with House Speaker Dennis Hastert when he lobbied for cancer research funding and his 2005 bike ride with President Bush. "I asked the President for a billion dollars" to fight cancer, Armstrong recalls. "I sort of expected to hear ‘Sure!’ But instead I got a ‘Well, I’ll get back to you on that.’ And I’m like, ‘Wait a minute, I’m not sure you heard me.’ "
Cycling legend Lance Armstrong has privately confirmed speculation that Jake Gyllenhaal will portray him in a biopic. He told sources at ESPN that Matthew McConaughey had been up to play the part, but lost out to Gyllenhaal."He said that’s why he has been spending so much time with them both this summer," said the source.Armstrong, who won the Tour de France a record seven times, hosted ESPN’s ESPY Awards last month.
