American Idol doesn’t change things up
July 25th, 2023 under ABC, American Idol 9+, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Ryan Seacrest. [ Comments: none ]

We are still months away from American Idol being back on ABC. However today, the network announced that Ryan Seacrest, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry will all be back for season 7.

The latter is a little bit of a surprise because a lot of fans were upset with what a bitch the California Gurl was to several of the contestants. But that is good for ratings, so they invited her back because Idol is the biggest hit she has had since joined the singing competition.

If you want her to be bitchy to you, then you can audition to be on the show. To see where they are holding auditions, then click here!

Did Pat Sajak predict in 2012 that Ryan Seacrest would be his replacement?
June 29th, 2023 under Ryan Seacrest, Wheel of Fortune. [ Comments: none ]

A few weeks ago, Pat Sajak announced that he was going to retire from Wheel of Fortune after next season. And the show wasted no time in announcing that Ryan Seacrest will be replacing him in the Fall of 2024.

While we are just finding this out, did Sajak know this was going to be the case going back as far back as 2012?

WheelRob unearthed a clip where Sajak jokes after a disastrous episode that the show’s producers have “Seacrest on speed dial.”

Things that make you go hmmm…

That and remember when 2012 was supposed to be the end of times. And that is the same year that Sajak predicted the end of Wheel with Seacrest taking over the series. Maybe that is what the Mayans saw on the wall?

What is, Ryan Seacrest is the new host of Wheel of Fortune?
June 27th, 2023 under Ryan Seacrest, Wheel of Fortune. [ Comments: none ]

Earlier this month, Pat Sajak announced that he was retiring as the host of Wheel of Fortune after 41 seasons. And today, the game show revealed who will be replacing him.

Drumroll, please…It is Ryan Seacrest.

He said: “I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak. I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them. Pat, I love the way you’ve always celebrated the contestants’ and made viewers at home feel at ease.

“I look forward to learning everything I can from you during this transition. Many people probably don’t know this but one of my first jobs was hosting a little game show called ‘Click’ for Mery Griffin 25 years ago so this is truly a full circle moment for me and I’m grateful to Sony for the opportunity.

“I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White.”

On his last note, I hope they keep Vanna because she is the heart of the show. And they better give her a big fat raise because she is going to need it.

I think his hiring is a mistake. He is going to be as popular as Mayim Bialik is as the host of Jeopardy. I don’t know why they rushed to give him the job when they have a year to name somebody, anybody else.

Whoopi Goldberg and Andy Cohen said it would be their dream job. And one of them would’ve been better.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they went with him because he is safe, and they know what they are going to get with him.

The problem with Ryan as a game show host is that he isn’t quick-witted and is no longer a lay people person. I don’t think he will be good with the contestants. He is too fake after over 20 years in the spotlight.

But he could surprise me. But I doubt it.

Wheel of Fortune had a chance to do something exciting, but instead, they went with an overexposed name because they are afraid to rock the boat.

Who knows, maybe we will get lucky, and he won’t wind up being the host of the show like that guy who was originally going to host Jeopardy before they gave the job to Ken Jennings and Mayim.

When does Ryan Seacrest find out who won American Idol?
May 19th, 2023 under American Idol 9+, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Ryan Seacrest. [ Comments: none ]

Ryan Seacrest has been saying, “After the nationwide vote, the winner of American Idol is” for 20 seasons. And have you ever wondered when he learns who that winner is?

Well, Kelly Ripa wanted to know, so she asked him yesterday on Live with Kelly and Mark. “I find out in the last commercial break,” he told his former co-host. “Because it is a live vote. It is in real-time. The last commercial break is about four minutes long, and with 35, 45 seconds, the card comes in after a final check, and I do take a glance to make sure I can read the writing of the producer who wrote it in.”

That makes sense because he doesn’t want to do a Steve Harvey or a Tyra Banks and announce the wrong winner. Of course, I want him to, but he doesn’t.

And as he has gotten older, it is getting closer to happening because the producer writes the results in pencil. And his eyes are not what they used to be. So it is harder for him to read the card. So who knows what will happen on Monday when he announces the winner of season 21?

BTW Am I the only one who thought he found out who the winner is at the beginning of the season finale?

Ryan Seacrest was almost a judge and not the host on American Idol
May 5th, 2023 under American Idol 1-5, Kelly Clarkson, Ryan Seacrest. [ Comments: none ]

Remember when American Idol started in 2002, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson were the judges and Ryan Seacrest was the host? Well, it almost wasn’t that way.

Today, when Seacrest was on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the first American Idol asked him if it was true he was almost a judge on the singing competition.

“Originally, when the producers, Nigel [Lythgoe] and Ken [Warwick], were setting up the show, they heard me on the radio here in Los Angeles, and they thought I might fit the panel to be up there with whoever else was already on,” he told Clarkson. “Wait, a minute. I would love to audition to be the host. And I auditioned eventually to be the host. And I got the job.”

And 21 years later. He still has the job. And he might not still have it if he were a judge instead of a host.

Could you imagine him as a judge? I can’t. So I am happy it didn’t happen.

And can we talk about how Taylor Hicks looks exactly the same? But then again, he looked like an old man back then too.
