The Irishman might be the best Mafia film since The Godfather
July 31st, 2019 under Al Pacino, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro. [ Comments: none ]

Somehow I missed that Martin Scorsese is doing a film for Netflix and The Irishman stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel. If that cast with that director does not scream that it will dominate the Oscars in 2020, then nothing will.

What is this film about? It is an “epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th century. Spanning decades, the film chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics.”

I don’t normally like these type of films, but even I want to see it. Then again I have always been interested to find out what really happened to Hoffa. Maybe this film will solve it. With legends like the ones in this feature, they can do anything. Capiche?

The Irishman does not have a release date, but it will be playing in select theaters and streaming on Netflix this fall. I expect it to make a killing at the box office and be a hit on the service. See what I did there?

Those Fockers, Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller were on Saturday Night Live!
April 15th, 2018 under Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Saturday Night Live. [ Comments: none ]

This is what I am picturing. Earlier in the week, after Michael Cohen’s office was raided, someone in SNL’s writer’s room suggested that they get Robert De Niro to play Robert Mueller. Since the Oscar winner is no fan of Donald Trump, I am pretty sure he jumped at the offer.

Sometime after that, someone suggested that they get Ben Stiller to play the disgraced lawyer. They did not only ask because Stiller looks like him, but also because they can recreate that lie detector scene from Meet the Parents.

That is exactly what they did on Saturday Night Live yesterday, and I hope both men are on speed dial to reprise their roles in the future. I cannot wait for the day when Alec Baldwin and De Niro, play Donald Trump and Mueller in a cold open. Partially because it will be funny, but mostly because the investigation is nearing the end and our national nightmare will soon be over. Although, President Mike Pence is a pretty terrifying concept too.

BTWF roles: Robert De Niro in Greetings
February 28th, 2017 under Before They Were Famous, Robert De Niro. [ Comments: none ]

Before Robert De Niro could only communicate with a Ouija Board in The Awakenings, he was reading a book in Greetings. How weird is it to see the then 34 year old actor in 1968 with a mustache?

Robert De Niro goes all Raging Bull on Mean Tweeters!
February 28th, 2017 under Jimmy Kimmel, Robert De Niro. [ Comments: none ]

Robert De Niro might not be on Twitter, but that doesn’t mean that people don’t Tweet about him. Yesterday on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the ABC late night show gave him his own Mean Tweets segment and the Oscar winner responded to them in his own special way. A way that would make Vito Corleone proud!

So sit back, watch and prepare to laugh as hard as you did with him in Meet the Fockers. He was so hilarious in that! Who knew at that time that he was so funny? Now we know.

BTWF roles: Robert De Niro in Three Rooms in Manhattan
May 18th, 2016 under Before They Were Famous, Robert De Niro. [ Comments: none ]

Before Robert De Niro was the star in ever movie he did, he was just an extra in Three Rooms in Manhattan. You could tell the 21 year old was going to be the star that he is today, even in this tiny scene from that 1965 movie.
