Three months ago, Netflix cancelled One Day at a Time, and fans of the show were heartbroken. They took to Twitter and were begging anyone to save their beloved sitcom. Today, they finally got some really good news. Pop TV picked it up for a 13-episode 4th season to air sometime next year.
This is a television first. How? ODAAT is the first show that was cancelled by a streaming service to be picked up by a cable channel. Normally, it is Netflix who does the saving.
Not only that, CBS, who owns Pop TV and was the network that aired the original One Day at a Time, will air the 4th season after the cable network is done airing all of that season’s episodes.
This is not a happy ending, instead, it is a happy beginning. I cannot wait see what is next for our favorite Cuban family who lives in Los Angeles.
One of the things I love about Hollywood Darlings, besides the show’s stars Full House’s Jodie Sweetin, 7th Heaven’s Beverly Mitchell and Step By Step’s Christine Lakin and how funny as it is, is that the actresses bring back their friends from the ’90s to guest star on the show. For example on tonight’s Pop TV episode at 8p, two of Lakin’s co-stars will make an appearance. Her TV dad Patrick Duffy and her TV sister Staci Keenan and will be playing themselves on the hilarious mockumentary that isn’t afraid to go there. They have gone there on several episodes and I can’t wait to see where they go tonight.
I know I should be asking for a Step By Step revival after seeing that photo, but I would love to see Keenan reunite with her Two Dads. I loved that show when I was a kid.
Now that Joey McIntyre has the hit series Return of the Mac on Pop TV, he needs to work on his faces to mug for the camera. Here is example of three of them that he took in his car. He doesn’t need lines with those expressions because I can tell exactly what message he is trying to get across here. You want me to work with my friends and family on the Docuseries, that could work or maybe not.
It like totally works! Tonight at 8:30p, you need to watch him and Joey Lawrence duke it out. There is only room for one Teen Idol from the ’80s named Joey who came in third on Dancing with the Stars on our TVs, and can you guess who it is going to be? You have to see it to believe and be prepared to laugh!
Don’t forget to watch Hollywood Darlings before ROTM with Jodie Sweetin, Beverly Mitchell and Christine Lakin. Tonight one of them goes to a High School Prom with a complete stranger. You have to tune in to find out why.
Hollywood Darlings starts things off at 8p and you will never look at Jodie Sweetin, Beverly Mitchell and Christine Lakin the same way again. We are used to seeing these actresses when they were cute and little on Full House, 7th Heaven and Step By Step respectively, but now the best friends are all grown up. Their child star images are long gone and because of that, you will love them in a whole new way!
On tonight’s season premiere, Jodie teaches one of Andrea Barber’s acting classes for 6 years old and they will never be the same. However, I so want her to teach me about acting. While she is corrupting kids, Beverly and Christine are taking a class at Andrew Keegan’s Full Circle spiritual church. One of them sleeps through it and the other is so relaxed, she orgasms just by crossing her legs. As I said, they are women now!
In the coming weeks, one of them finally goes to the prom she never went to as a teen. A sleepover-shopping spree that lands them in an adult video store. There is also minivan shopping, a yoga class with a sexual breather and one of them taking a retail job for a discount. None of that is as bad as when one of them becomes a spokesperson for a pro-breastfeeding group and they want her to do the unthinkable.
What is also unthinkable is the amazing list of guest stars they have for Hollywood Darlings. There’s Tamera Mowry, Wanya Morris, Jaleel White, DeAnna Pappas, Heather & Nicholle Tom, Lance Bass, Patrick Duffy, Staci Keanan, Lori Beth Denberg and Soleil Moon Frye. It’s a ’90s palooza of child stars!
Nevertheless, what truly is a palooza is how rad Hollywood Darlings is. I went in with no expectations, and I came out with great one. It is quirky, fun and it has some of your favorite stars that you grew up with as a kid. You wanted to be friends with them and now you can be in a way. Just pretend you are hanging with them during all of the hilarious hijinks!
Oh and someone needs to give Lakin a sitcom ASAP because she needs to have her own show. She steals every episode. Not that the other 2 actresses are not great, but she is all that and a bag of chips!
Then at 8:30p, Joey McIntyre wants to do a Donnie Wahlberg and get his show on Return of the Mac. His agent has been getting crappy reality shows and he wants to act. He tells his agent no more crap jobs and Alex (Adam Ray) gets his client a meeting at the Comfy Channel, which is like HBO for females.
McIntyre thinks he is going to get a scripted show on their network, but they offer him a late night talk show. He does not want it, but a chance meeting with January Jones makes him change his mind.
He is already to accept their offer, but then his wife Barrett (his real life wife) of their actual 3 kids, Griffin (8), Rhys (6) and Kira (5), tells him she wants to go back to work. He foregoes the job. Then when she finds out about it, she tells him to go for it.
That is when he finds out another Joey was the first choice. Now, the rivalry between Joey Lawrence is about to begin. That is right, not all Joeys who came in third on Dancing with the Stars are friends and all of that plays out hilariously next week. In fact, coming up he will also have problems with another Joey from DWTS and that is Joey Fatone.
We know that the Big Mac can act, and now we know that his family can too. You would swear they were actors if they all did not have the same last name as his.
I always knew there was something special about Joey and this show demonstrates that with youngest member of New Kids on the Block!
Both these comedic shows are full of the right stuff and you do not want to miss either one tonight and for the next 7 weeks. They are so super fly, I would be surprised if they are not back for a 2nd and 3rd and a 4th season and so on! I promise you will love them as much as you love the stars of both shows.
