New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys are going on tour this summer and they gave us all a little preview of what we can expect of the NKOTBSB tour. I don’t know about you, but I am already wet in excitement! That is what happens when you put two boy bands together like that!
I just wish they had more New Kids songs in that mashup because I never got the whole Backstreet Boys thing. I am New Kids girl! Did I just openly admit that?
I am also openly admitting I so want to go to their concert when it comes to LA, who wants to hook me up with tickets???
Today on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys announced that they will be touring together this summer. Well looking at the pictures the American Idol host posted, it looks like (since during the summer he has some down time) he was begging to go on the road with them and it worked. Afterall since Kevin Richardson left BSB in 2006 they have yet to replace him and Ryan already has the frosted tips needed to be a boy band member of a ’90s group! I would go see them if he toured with them. Sh!t I would go see NKOTBSB without him because I have secretly been excited about their joint venture since they sang together at MSG back in June!!!
On tonight’s episode of CBS’s Blue Bloods at 10p an officer finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. The happily married cop with a 6 year old son finds herself walking down the same street as a bank is being robbed. She pulls out her gun trying to stop them, but there are more of them and they get the fatal shot in but not before she gets a bullet in one of them. After we watch her shooting we see get to see how the police force deals with her death from finding her killer to going to her funeral.
Tom Selleck is so believable and compassionate as the police commissioner who not only deals with his force trying to find her killer, but also as man who talks to her family and offers support to them during their tough time. His father and former-police commissioner Len Cariou is with Selleck when he learns the news and he knows the father of one the bank robbers and confronts him about it. Donnie Wahlberg gives his best performance yet on the show and I can totally see him winning the Emmy as the cop who will do anything to solve crime. On Blue Bloods I almost forget that he is a New Kid on the Block because the Boston native really nails playing a NY police officer. On tonight’s episode we get a lot of insight into his character Danny. Not only do the men give such persuasive performances tonight, but there is a scene where the wives of the Reagan man talk about the fear of their husbands being shot during the line of duty. Besides the Reagan women Jennifer Esposito joins the show as Danny’s partner and she is one of the only people who can keep him check.
Get your tissues ready for an episode of Blue Bloods that shows you all the reactions of how everyone from the top of the police force down the bottom deals with the news that one of their own is lost. And make sure to watch it all the way through because there is something that Danny says that really explains who he is and it is 5 words that will stay with you throughout the series.
All you teen girls who are now between 25-35 and covered your walls with either New Kids on the Block or Backstreet Boys posters or better yet both in the ’90s, be prepared to get that feeling all over again because the two boy bands are going on tour together. A source told E! that they are close to signing a deal with LiveNation and said, “The idea is to recreate the boy band phenomenon. It will be the ultimate ladies’ night out.” The source added that they are looking to add a third boy band and they are considering Boys II Men. Personally I think they either need a band from the ’80s or the last decade, so I say either Menudo or the Jonas Brothers. The latter’s 15 minutes are almost up, so this would be a great way to extend it. Now back to the tour, I feel bad for all the ushers that are going to have to listen to all of those screaming women remembering their teenage dreams! The screeching will certainly hurt their ears, it is already hurting mine thinking about it.
BTW I thought of a great promotion for the tour, Syfy should do a movie with NKOTB vs BSB…Mega Lobsters vs Gigantic Stone Crabs! NKOTB are Harvard scientists trying to stop the Mega Lobsters from taking over while BSB are University of Miami scientists doing the same with Gigantic Stone Crabs, so the 9 men get together and have their water creatures fight it out. Doesn’t that sound Mega!
So Jordan Knight was out and about when a guy recognized him, well sort of… He is like are you Brian McKnight and the NKOTB star is like, “Do you know what Brian McKnight looks like?” But the guy was insistent and said the woman told him that he was Brian McKnight who was in New Kids on the Block. Then as Jordan kept questioning him, he finally got The Right Stuff and realized it was Jordan Knight and just got confused by all the excitement of meeting someone from NKOTB. Once he knew who he was he took out his camera, snapped a photo and asked for a autograph for his sister. Well according to Jordan Knight’s Twitter he did more than sign something for her, he Tweeted “Oh, and yeah I did talk to his sister…left her a vm…” How sweet to do that after all of that! I hope that she records her reaction to the call and posts it on YouTube, just like Jordan Knight posted the video of meeting her brother!
BTW I am so thankful for phonecams because before them you would never be able to catch a moment like that!
Finally who else have ever messed up a celeb’s names when they met them in person? I once confused Doris Roberts for Renee Taylor. I am sorry but they are both older ladies with big grey hair. My bad completely, but don’t they kind of look alike?
