Step Sisters steps it up to all the right beats!
January 22nd, 2018 under Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

Remember when you were college and you saw some of the sororities and fraternities Step and you felt so alive watching them make music with their bodies? That is the feeling you get when you watch Step Sisters streaming now on Netflix.

Jamilah (Megalyn Echikunwoke) seems to have the perfect life. She is president of her Black sorority and captain of their winning Step team, her boyfriend is all she could ever ask for, she works in Student Affairs and she is all set to go to Harvard Law because she is a legacy. That is until her parents (Sheryl Lee Ralph and L. Warren Young) tell they won’t sponsor her to get in. Now she needs to find another way to get into Harvard Law, so she asks her boss Dean Berman (Robert Curtis Brown) to write her recommendation. He turns her down.

Then one day, the former RA runs into her former resident Beth (Eden Sher), who invites her to a party at her sorority house. While they are at the party one of the SBB sisters is filmed having sex on the lawn and the dean is not happy with the video going viral. He threatens to pull their charter at the end of semester unless they do this one thing. He tells Jamilah if she can get the girls of SBB to win a charity Step competition, they he will get her in to Harvard Law and Sigma Beta Beta can stay on campus.

There’s just a few problems with that. Jamilah doesn’t want to do it, SBB is very white and the sisters don’t get along at all. The latter two make stepping in unison nearly impossible. Jamilah has her work cut out for her and no one understands why she is doing it. Especially, after the girls are laughed off the stage during their first competition.

Not only are they losers, so is Jamilah. Everything is falling apart in front of her. She loses her sorority sisters, her boyfriend, her job, her friends and any hope she had to go to Harvard. She has one more chance to do the impossible, but will it be possible?

You just have to watch this feature that is perfect to Netflix and Girls Night In with to find out. Call your girl friends, grab some wine, order in some pizza and watch Step Sisters tonight and every night. Then you will want to do a Google search to find the nearest place where you can take Step classes. This movie will have you so pumped up to Step, you will want to do it yourself. That is a proof of great movie. One that makes you want to watch it over and over again, and also do whatever activity is featured in it. What are you waiting for, go watch the movie now?

Grace and Frankie
January 19th, 2018 under Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Netflix, Peter Gallagher. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKMC6HViGTM
Grace and Frankie is back for its fourth season on Netflix now for you to stream all 13 episodes and this might be the best season yet. There is love, new life, death, family and most importantly laughs!

The season starts off with Frankie (Lily Tomlin) still living in Santa Fe with Jacob (Ernie Hudson), but she needs to fly back to LA to go to Bud (Baron Vaughn) and Allison’s (Lindsey Kraft) baby reveal party.

When she gets to the house, she shared with Grace (Jane Fonda), her former roommate found a new one to live with her. Sheree (Lisa Kudrow), Grace’s manicurist, is the complete opposite of Frankie, so of course she hates her. Frankie will do everything in her power to get rid of Grace’s new BFF, but that is proving harder than she thought. Until they find something to bond over.

Talking about bonding, Robert (Martin Sheen) and Sol (Sam Waterston) are not. Their marriage is in trouble as Robert gets more involved with the plays he is doing. Sol wants to protest more, but his husband is too busy to do it. Things are so bad between them, they decide to go to a therapist who tells them to see other people. Will they do it?

This season, Frankie is healthier, but Grace is not. Her knee is giving her problems and it is becoming harder for her to get around. Because of that it makes her feel old. So old, she thinks that she needs to break up with her boy toy Nick (Peter Gallagher) because of it. When he refuses, she decides to show him her real face to see if he still wants her. In a revealing scene, she takes off all of her makeup and we get to see what a bare faces Fonda looks like. Will he stay with her?

With all of that they still have time to sell their vibrators, deliver a baby, commit a few crimes, break up with their lovees and still be there for each other when they really need it. And they are going to need it. Especially since one of them is dead.

The whole season comes together with an ending that sets up for the fifth season they better get. This show might have an older cast, and people of all ages can enjoy. I have been watching a lot of Golden Globe winners and they have all been disappointing me. Then I watched all 13 episodes of this season and I was reminded that television can be great. It can also leave you feeling happy. The chemistry of this cast grabs hold of you and never lets you go. That is why before you know it, you have binged all 13 episodes and you cannot wait for the next season to premiere. Which they better be filming as you read this.

Queer Eye for the happy heart!
January 17th, 2018 under Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

After 10 years, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is back, but it is returning with 5 new guys on Netflix. On February 7th, the new Fab 5 (Antoni Porowski (food & wine), Bobby Berk (interior design), Karamo Brown (culture), Jonathan Van Ness (grooming) and Tan France (fashion)) will help straight guys get a little more fabulous in Atlanta.

The reason why we loved the original, it was so much more than a makeover show. It also had a lot of heart. It looks like reboot will have even more heart and we need more of that today. Mark your calendars so you can binge your latest addiction.

A Futile and Stupid Gesture looks potent and brilliant!
December 22nd, 2017 under Joel McHale, Netflix, Will Forte. [ Comments: none ]

Before there was Saturday Night Live, there was National Lampoon. Several of the people who worked with the National Lampoon, went on to SNL. A Futile and Stupid Gesture is the story of the people behind the magazine that changed comedy forever with their magazine and their films.

Will Forte leads the wacky group of people who made the ’70s even funnier. Plus, who doesn’t want to see how Joel McHale plays his former co-star Chevy Chase. That has to be an Oscar worthy performance if I ever heard one.

Therefore mark your calendars for January 26th because that is when retro humor will be current again.

House of Cards will go on without Kevin Spacey
December 4th, 2017 under Kevin Spacey, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

After a month and a half of waiting, House of Cards fans finally found out the fate of their show. Kevin Spacey is still out and this will be the show’s final season.

That is not all that was confirmed today by Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer of Netflix, he revealed that the sixth season will only be 8 episodes instead of the normal 13, Robin Wright will be back for the final 8 and it will start production next year according to The LA Times.

What we don’t know is if the three episodes that Spacey filmed before he was fired for alleged sexual misconduct on the show will be part of the 8 and how they will handle his absence. My gut says that they will not air those 3 episodes and they will kill him off like they did in the book.

Are you OK with seeing House of Cards going on without him or do you think they should just have ended the show with season five?
