Kanye West dresses David Letterman up his clothes
May 28th, 2019 under David Letterman, Kanye West, Netflix, The Kardashians. [ Comments: none ]

Ever since David Letterman started hosting a nighttime talk show in 1982, he has dressed the same way. Now that his Netflix show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction is in its second season, it is about time he got a new look. Kanye West is the man who is going to style him.

After seeing Letterman all Yeezyfied, I think he needs to stick with his old look. Especially since those threads with his big bushy beard makes him look like a bum. If he sat on a bench in NYC, people would give him some change because they would feel sorry for him.

Can that whole interaction with Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner and the host be any more awkward? Especially when Mrs. West asks her husband, “Are you going to let him have it?” Like they need any more money? Cheap bitch.

Always Be My Maybe is the summer Rom-Con we need!
May 16th, 2019 under American Housewife, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

Friday nights on ABC just got weird for me because I will never be able to watch American Housewife’s Ali Wong and Fresh Off the Boat’s Randall Park the same. Thanks to their new movie Always Be My Maybe where they play childhood friends who might have a second chance of love. Until Keanu Reeves comes between them.

Now having said that I will be weirded out by the two back-to-back sitcom stars working in a Rom-Com together does not mean I do not want to see it. It makes me want to see it even more. Therefore, I cannot wait to see it when it streams on Netflix May 31st. I will just have to get past my issue.

Seriously though, I am happy that Netflix is giving Asians a movie to be the spotlight in. Take that Constance Wu. It is not about her, it is about her co-star. I am glad he is getting a project that will really show off his comedic brilliance. He can play so many different roles and I hope people start to see that about him. And Wong too.

How can you have a Laugh-In special without Goldie Hawn?
May 9th, 2019 under Goldie Hawn, Lily Tomlin, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

Before Goldie Hawn won an Oscar, she was on the variety show Laugh-In. The late ’60s and early ’70s weekly comedy show had people laughing until hurt, and she was one of their brightest stars.

Therefore, you would think that Netflix would have included her in their special Still LAUGH-IN: The Stars Celebrate. However, for some reason, she is not there. While Dick Martin and Dan Rowan have a good excuse for not being part of it (they are no longer with us), there is no excuse for her not being part of it.

While she is not in to laugh, Lily Tomlin, Ruth Buzzi and JoAnne Worley will be. They will be joined by a bunch of people who were born or not even born when it originally aired. People like Neil Patrick Harris, Tiffany Haddish, Chelsea Handler, Taye Diggs, Maria Bamford, Margaret Cho, Ron Funches, Nikki Glaser, Lisa Ann Walter, Mary McCormack, Bobby Moynihan, Cheri Oteri, Rob Riggle, Jeff Ross, Tony Hale and Natasha Leggero.

I wish the networks would bring back variety shows like this and the other ones from the ’60s and ’70s. I used to love watching them in syndication when I was growing up. They taught me how to laugh and we need more laughter in the world.

Netflix’s Designated Survivor is not like what it was on ABC
May 3rd, 2019 under Kiefer Sutherland, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

ABC impeached Designated Survivor and Netflix elected to give it a third season. Today, they released the first trailer for the new season, that begins streaming on June 7th, and I am blown away. Just like all the elected officials, but President Kirkman, were in the pilot episode.

Designated Survivor had a great first half season, but then they changed showrunners a few times and the show was not about his presidency. Instead, it was about conspiracies and attacks. It lost its heart.

It does not look like it will be like it was when it was great. However, it might be even better because it looks like an engaging political thriller.

Kiefer Sutherland plays the President like one America desperately needs. Too bad he is Canadian. But if Ted Cruz can run, why can’t he?

Netflix is no longer hungry for the Santa Clarita Diet
April 27th, 2019 under Drew Barrymore, Netflix, Timothy Olyphant. [ Comments: none ]

Santa Clarita Diet was a scrumptious show, but it was not yummy enough for Netflix to order a fourth season. The streaming service cancelled the show that was a different take on the Zombie story. Drew Barrymore ate some bad clams and she became a member of the walking dead. Instead of using her hunger for bad, she ate bad people. Her husband, Timothy Olyphant was very supportive of her in all ways. Except one, and that was become a Zombie too. That is until something happened and she has no choice to get a taste of him and that was the end of the show. In a way it felt like a natural conclusion, and yet I wanted more.

If Netflix keeps cancelling the shows I watch, I can’t justify (no pun) paying the extra dollar. Especially when there are so many options coming out in the next year.
