From 1989 to 1993, Dr. Samuel Beckett traveled through time to help people. However, for the last 30 years, he has been lost in time, and no one knows where he is or when.
NBC has decided it is time to find him, so they are sending Dr. Ben Seong (Raymond Lee) to find him. Seong and a new team have been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.
What will they find out? We will have to tune in the fall to find out.
Part of me is excited for this because I loved the original series, and I can’t wait to see what they do with the new Quantum Leap. Then, the other part of me is scared that they will completely destroy the original’s legacy.
Peacock picked up the dating competition series The Courtship, which is The Bachelor but set in the olden days. NBC liked the idea so much they stole it from their streaming service. Unfortunately, what they thought was a good idea turned out to be a bad one.
So much so the show was only seen by 500,000 viewers after its second airing. Therefore, NBC broke up with her and sent her to date their lesser cousin USA Network, according to Deadline.
Starting tonight, she will air on USA Network at 11p after Temptation Island, which USA Network stole from CBS. So basically tonight, USA Network is airing two rejected shows.
And what is even sadder is that Peacock has to air the rejected shows the next day. Peacock might look like a pretty Peacock, but she is the ugly duckling. Poor Peacock.
Tonight during the 8p hour on NBC, you are going to need the tissues. But, I thought that This Is Us airs at 9p. It does. However, you will be laughing so hard with The Rock and Mr. Mayor that you will be crying happy tears.
Young Rock starts things off at 8p, and things are starting off on a high note. DJ’s dad wins the Tag Team Belt of the WWF. That means that Rocky (Joseph Lee Anderson) is going to hit the road. He will leave his wife (Stacey Leilua) and Dewey (Adrian Groulx) behind.
However, years later, Rocky will ask his family to join him in Nashville. Dwayne (Bradley Constan) heads out before his mom, and it is not what he expected.
Talking about what he didn’t expect, DJ (Uli Latukefu) thought he would go from the University of Miami into the NFL. He didn’t. Instead, he was recruited by the Canadian Football League.
Finally, we get to The Rock, who is running for President. However, there is an archnemesis who is going to try to stop that. What did The Rock do to him? You will have to tune in next week to find out.
The Rock plays a more significant role in the show this season as compared to last. And the more DJ, the better. Even if they aren’t focusing on our alma mater as much this season.
Then at 8:30p, it is time for Mr. Mayor’s second term on NBC.
Things are changing at the LA Mayor’s office. The Mayor (Ted Danson) has hired an innovative team to make sure that things run more smoothly. However, his staff doesn’t agree with him.
Apri (Holly Hunter) is going to do everything in her power to prove that they are needed. For example, she is going to help his daughter (Kyla Kennedy) pass her permit test. Apri thinks that the Mayor will be happy about that, but he isn’t.
She is not the only one who is not happy about them being there. Mikaela (Vella Lovell) and Tommy (Mike Cabellon) are wary of them, especially when they find out the innovative team wants to fire those who they don’t think are worthy of staying on. Who will it be? Will it be Apri, Mikaela, Tommy, or Jayden (Bobby Moynihan)?
You will just have to tune in to find out, and also for a surprise ending!
The main reason to tune in is to see them improv their way through each episode. It is fun playing, is it scripted or improved. We will never know…
One thing I do is, is that if Ted Danson ran for Mayor of Los Angeles, he would have my vote.
Tonight at 10p on NBC, Dateline’s investigation into Pam Hupp comes to life with Renee Zellwegger in The Thing About Pam.
Betsy Faria is found dead, and her husband is accused of her murder. Russ (Glenn Fleshler) discovered his wife’s body and has a history of abusing her. Therefore, the prosecutor (Judy Greer) thinks she has an open and shut case. Especially because Pam Hupp (Zellwegger), who was the last person to see her alive, keeps giving Askey (Greer) tons of evidence that points his way.
Joel Schwartz (Josh Duhamel) comes to Lincoln County to defend Russ. He has work cut out for him because everyone thinks that Russ did it. That and all the legal people are in cahoots with Askey. Schwartz thinks Pam did it. But again, he keeps hitting roadblocks.
In each episode, you will get to see how the case is being built against Russ and Pam at the same time. Who will be guilty of the crime?
The first episode is slow because they have to give you the history. But every episode after that picks up the pace, and you are going to want to know what happens next. People were glued to the podcast, and they are going to be glued to this limited series. So tune in tonight for a murder mystery based on an actual crime.
You know it has to be good if an Oscar winner asks to play the lead role on television.
NBC announced that they cancelled Ordinary Joe, and then a few minutes later, Fox did the same with The Big Leap. The news, reported by Varietyfirst, is no surprise because neither show did well in the ratings.
The Big Leap was a great show, but it was wrongly paired with 9-1-1 because it reached a different type of audience. 9-1-1 is first responder drama, while The Big Leap was a fictional take of the behind the scenes of a reality dancing competition show and all the madness that goes on. Well, even more so because it was make-believe. It also had a lot of heart.
Ordinary Joe had an interesting concept. James Wolk starred as the lead character, who had three choices on his college graduation day. The show followed what happened if he made each decision. There was only one problem, the decisions were forced on us 10 years later. We needed a standalone episode for each timeline so we could have gotten to know each story better. It helped with This Is Us, and I think it would’ve done the same with Ordinary Joe.
