NBC only had one new comedy debut this fall and they just cut Truth Be Told‘s episode order down to 10 from 13. The news is no surprise because it got very poor ratings. Not only that, truth be told, it sucks. I wanted to like it because I like Mark Paul Gosselaar and the show’s creator DJ Nash, but I couldn’t even fake a chuckle while suffering through the premiere. Seems I wasn’t alone because it got it’s episode order cut after just two airings.
Personally, I am surprised that NBC is going to keep it on the air for all 10 episodes. I think they would be smarter to extend Undatebale Live to an hour leading in to Grimm. Now, both shows will be hurt by Truth Be Told. But what do I know, I am just a viewer who likes the bread in that Friday sandwich.
UPDATE: Seems whenever one show, basically, gets cancelled, another one gets a full season pick up. Hours after Truth Be Told was told the harsh truth, The Grinder was given news I won’t object to. Fox announced today that they picked up the comedy for a full season. No word about Fox’s other new fall comedy Grandfathered, which airs beforehand, but the writing is pretty much on the wall. I am sure Fox will let it air all 13 episodes before replacing it with New Girl sometime next year.

UPDATE 2: For some reason, CBS picked up Life in Pieces for a full season. A decision I am sure they will quickly regret the one time they air after a The Big Bang Theory repeat. Then the true rating numbers will be told.
My theory why they renewed the least funny sitcom of the fall, is they are hoping it will get them awards since TBBT’s time doing that is pretty much dunzo.
What this news means for The Odd Couple, Mike & Molly and Angel from Hell (which is almost as awful as Life in Pieces) is unknown at this time.

The good news is that CBS ordered the back 9 episodes for Limitless, the bad news is that NBC’s The Player had its episode order count cut down to 9 from 13. The news is not really a surprise for either show.
When it comes to The Player, I didn’t hate it. It just wasn’t the type of show I watch and I guess others felt the same way.
When it comes to Limitless, I stopped watching it midway through the second episode. While I got bored with that show, others did not. Thus, why it will be around until May.

UPDATE: The well has run dry for Blood & Oil because ABC cut their episode order down to 10 from 13. Not shocking at all because the show was treacherous to watch.
Jaimie Alexander spends over 7 hours in the makeup chair to get all those tattoos put on her for NBC’s Blindspot. While they last more than a day, they need to be touched up every now and again. Today, she shared a photo of herself getting some much needed maintenance.
As you can see there is no time for shame with her job because she has at least two people working on her naked body at any given time.
Simon Cowell has been off of American television since The X Factor was cancelled, but now he is coming back this summer. NBC announced today that he will go from just being America’s Got Talent’s Executive Producer to also serving as a Judge, replacing Howard Stern who departed the talent competition this season.
If the show keeps Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Mel B as his co-judges, that means that once again no American will be on the panel. So the America might have talent, we just don’t know how to judge it.

Tonight at 8p on ABC, The Muppets have a night out. When Miss Piggy finds out the staff of Up Late are going out without her after the show, she makes Kermit the Frog have them ask her to join them. She says she doesn’t want to go, she just wants to be asked. So when they ask her, she says yes. Now, they are stuck doing Karaoke with her. Turns out she is a lot of fun. Too much fun. She tells them they don’t have to be at work until the afternoon and now that night’s show is in jeopardy. Will Kermit be able to save that night’s show or will it be a disaster?
He isn’t the only one having a bad day, Fozzie the Bear accidentally hits one of the audience members with a T-shirt from a T-shirt gun. When the audience member is taken to the hospital, Fozzie is wrecked with guilt and can’t go on.
What will happen to Up Late tonight? You will have to tune in to find out.

Then at 8:30p over at Fox, The Grinder is all about coming forward with the truth. When Stewart (Fred Savage) and his wife Debbie (Mary Elizabeth Ellis) go to watch Ray Donovan, they find out that someone erased it from the DVR. Immediately they blame the kids (Hana Hayes and Connor Kalopsis) for erasing it, but both of them deny it.
All of this reminds Stewart of the time when he was a teenager and he was accused of breaking a window that he knows Dean (Rob Lowe) broke, but Dean still denies it even after all of these years.
So for the rest of the episode, it is who said game. And by then end of it, you will know who did what. Think you know who did what? You could be wrong, so tune in to find out.

Then at 10p over on NBC, Chicago Fire is back. The episode picks up where the season finale left off. Casey (Jesse Spencer) is missing and no one knows where he is. Now, they are looking for him. Will they find him before it is too late?
Besides dealing with that. They get a new recruit (Steven McQueen), someone gets demoted, they tackle some of their toughest calls and someone will quit.
It is a lot to deal with in an hour, but that is why this show is on fire.
