WILLIE NELSONhas taken his love of gospel to the max – by buying a church. The country legend surprised the congregation at the Methodist church in his hometown of Abbott, Texas on Sunday (02JUL06) when he performed gospel songs and announced his plans to preserve the 107-year-old building.Nelson was joined by his sister BOBBIE and pal LEON RUSSELL. The church closed its doors in May (06) after the congregation merged with another United Methodist Church nearby. But Nelson was determined to bring church-goers back to the old building, explaining during Sunday’s service that he and his sister had been regulars since they were kids.He told the congregation, "Now, you’re all members of the Abbott Methodist Church, and you will be, forever and ever."Nelson’s new church comes days after the country great launched his own satellite radio station, WILLIE’S PLACE. This will cause some Flaming Lips!

Eccentric THE FLAMING LIPS frontman WAYNE COYNE is keen to sell vibrating panties to his fans – so he can activate them from the stage at concerts. The DO YOU REALISE hitmaker has already tested his idea on his wife and members of his record company and he’s convinced the latest thrill underwear coming out of Japan could be a hoot for fun-loving fans. He explains, "At first I did it for a six-minute song. After, everyone was like, ‘Dude, that’s way too long…’ So the next time, I just did quick little spurts. "By the end of the night, you could see a visible thrill in their faces, like, ‘That was a better show for me than for other people.’ "I believe in doing things. That’s the problem with most artists: They just dream and dream and dream. You gotta do stuff."

Chris Martin apologizes for cold play on words.
July 2nd, 2006 under Music. [ Comments: none ]

CHRIS MARTIN has apologised after telling a fat critic of his music to go to Weight Watchers.

Standing on the steps of his Belsize Park home in north-west London, the skinny COLDPLAY singer lashed out at the woman’s figure after she turned up in person to slate his band
Chris said: “When someone insults you to your face about your music, the first thing you want to do is pick on something about their appearance. It’s a terrible thing but I had this woman parked outside our house.
“I would never say it to anyone else, but she drove me so crazy that I advised her to go to Weight Watchers, which was not a very nice thing to say.
“I’m not proud of it, but it’s weird how if you sort of feel like you’re being attacked you can become a real a*******.”

Josh Duhamel vs Tommy Lee – literally
June 29th, 2006 under Josh Duhamel, Mötley Crüe, Music. [ Comments: none ]

Josh Duhamel and Tommy Lee apparently had it out at at Hollywood hotspot Bella last night.

According to a Bella publicist: Diners were treated to a special serving of celebrity blood lust when Josh Duhamel showed up and saw Tommy Lee. The two "got into a pushing match in the middle of the restaurant. Fergie’s name WAS mentioned in the beginning, but they don’t know what the fight was all about. Josh was escorted outside, Tommy stayed inside and finished his meal."

Wait… you guys let Tommy stay and kicked out Josh? Have you seen Josh? We’re sure there’s a county health code violation in this somewhere.

Buy the shirt Eminem and D-12 wore to Proof’s funeral
June 27th, 2006 under Eminem, Music. [ Comments: none ]

EMINEM and his fellow D-12 rappers have licensed a production run of the T-shirts they wore to slain bandmate PROOF’s funeral to raise money for his family.
Proof – real name DESHAUN HOLTON – was shot dead in a Detroit, Michigan, nightclub in April (06) after he reportedly opened fire on a bouncer at the CCC venue.
Close friend Eminem paid his respects during an emotionally charged service claiming, "Without Proof, there would be no Eminem, no Slim Shady." He is now urging fans who also wish to commemorate Proof’s life to wear the same Big Proof Forever T-shirt he sported at the ceremony, and buy a limited edition poster at BigProof4Ever.com.
