Soft Cell announce their final album
June 10th, 2026 under 80s, Music. [ Comments: none ]

In 1978, Soft Cell was born to parents Marc Almond and Dave Ball. However, in October 2025, Ball lost his battle with poor health at the age of 66.

With that, the duo became a solo act, and Almond has been touring the world ever since, including a performance at the Hollywood Bowl last week. It looked like the show was going on. But it is not. Almond announced that the band is releasing their final album, Danceteria.

“The ‘Danceteria’ album reflects what we were going through as Brits in New York,” concludes Marc. “We arrived there in 1981 with a bunch of songs that were initially written about London and Leeds. They were songs that reflected the greyness and repression of Margaret Thatcher’s Britain. But once we hit New York, the same songs became infused with a fresh, streetwise sensibility. We were in the clubs, where ecstasy was available for the first time, and we felt privileged to be part of that secret. Our music took on a hybrid quality. We were quintessentially British, but we felt that we were also an honorary American band. So it feels right that the last Soft Cell album is invested in those myths and stories. It brings everything full circle for us, and it’s a fitting tribute to Dave.”

Even though it is being released 11 months after Ball’s death, the singer said his late bandmate had heard the finished record two days before he passed and “knew it was a great piece of work.”

Their sixth and final album will be released on September 25th.

Are you Satisfied with Renée Elise Goldsberry’s cover?
May 25th, 2026 under Music. [ Comments: none ]

In June 2016, Renée Elise Goldsberry won a Tony for her performance in Hamilton as Angelica Schuyler. I think what solidified her win was her solo in the musical.

Any Hamilfan can attempt to sing Satisfied like she did, but they will fail every time. But they might have a better chance with her version of the showtune off of her album, Who I Really Am.

I didn’t think I would be Satisfied with any other version of the song, but I might love this one even more.

So are you as Satisfied with it as I am?

Teddy Swim’s Lose Control can’t lose control of Billboard 100
May 27th, 2025 under Music. [ Comments: none ]

Teddy Swims’ haunting song Lose Yourself is the type of single that stays with you. So that could be why it just broke a Billboard 100 record for the longest run on that chart. It has been there for a record-breaking 92 weeks.

It has come a long way since it debuted at 99 on August 26, 2003. It finally hit #1 in March 2024. And this week, it is charting at #11.

I want to say my hopes for the tune’s future on the chart, but I don’t want to jinx its run. So, I will post about it if/when it happens

The previous record holder was Glass Animals’ Heat Waves.

DJ Khaled is too good to walk on sand
February 27th, 2024 under Music. [ Comments: none ]

DJ Khaled was performing on Miami Beach, literally. And he didn’t want his Jordans to touch the sand.

So, he got his bodyguards to carry him around like Ariana Grande used to be taken around.

However, he is like three of her, so you feel their pain. Hopefully, he gave them a big bonus because they earned it.

Tool’s Danny Carey beat all out the other drummers with this outfit!
February 20th, 2024 under Music. [ Comments: none ]

Sammy Hagar went to see Tool over the weekend in Ontario, and he shared this photo of him with Danny Carey.

And all I see is the drummer’s literal body suit! It is so sexy; it got my blood pumping through all of the veins it is showing.

What is the best part of his outfit? The two little testicles. They are what makes it!

Therefore, I declare that Carey is the best-dressed drummer marching to his own beat. And I have a lot of drummers in my life.
