Michael J. Fox and Whoopi Goldberg have been good friends for a long time, and she is still learning things about him.
Yesterday when Fox was on The View, he revealed he turned down a role that meant that he would’ve gotten to work with his friend.
What was it? “They talked to me about Ghost early on,” he said. “Whoopi is great, but it will never work. And then it was great and huge. I’m an idiot.”
As much as I love Fox, Patrick Swayze was perfect in that role.
So as Whoopi says, “There’s still time!” Hopefully, there will be time for them to do something. I even thought of a project that would be perfect for them. And if I can do it, so can Hollywood.
Back to the Future was years ahead of its times. So people were blown away by how advanced it was.
And now, almost 40 years later, it is still blowing minds. Justin Rupple pointed out some interesting things if the movie was rebooted in 2023.
The original BTTF started out in 1985 and traveled back to 1995. So if it took place today, Marty McFly would travel back to 1993. Ouch! I feel like ancient.
But that is not as shocking as this fact. The first song Marty heard in 1955 was Chet Atkins’ Mr. Sandman. So what would he hear in 1993? Metallica’s Enter Sandman. We’re off to Never Never Land with that revelation.
Michael J. Fox is one of the most loved actors in Hollywood. In the ’80s, he was on top of the world thanks to projects like Family Ties and the Back to the Future franchise until everything came crashing down. The actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991. And he didn’t let that keep him down.
On May 12th, Fox is going to tell his story, his way in the documentary Still on Apple TV+.
The film, which incorporates documentary, archival and scripted elements, recounts Fox’s extraordinary story in his own words – the improbable tale of an undersized kid from a Canadian army base who rose to the heights of stardom in 1980s Hollywood. The account of Fox’s public life, full of nostalgic thrills and cinematic gloss, unspools alongside his never-before-seen private journey, including the years that followed his diagnosis, at 29, with Parkinson’s disease. Intimate and honest, and produced with unprecedented access to Fox and his family, the film chronicles Fox’s personal and professional triumphs and travails, and explores what happens when an incurable optimist confronts an incurable disease. With a mix of adventure and romance, comedy and drama, watching the film feels like … well, like a Michael J. Fox movie.
This documentary looks like it is a must-watch. I know I will not only be watching as a fan but also as a daughter who lost her father to the disease. Fox has done a lot for Parkinson’s research, and for that, I thank him! I also thank him for being someone to look up to, even if he is not the tallest actor in show business.
Over the weekend, Michael J Fox reunited with his Back to the Future mother, Lea Thompson, best friend, Christopher Lloyd, and bully Tom Wilson over the weekend at Fan Expo Portland.
It might’ve been 28 years since they started working together. But they still look as close and as friendly as ever. Maybe, they would even consider giving us one more BTTF that takes place today. How cool would it be to see them traveling to a different time from our time?
Before Michael J Fox was getting his first kiss on Family Ties, he already got one, thanks to McDonald’s. How precious was the 18-year-old in that 1980 commercial?
