Dame Helen Mirren was on The Late Late Show yesterday and she challenged James Corden to Drop the Mic. You might think she is all prim and proper because she has played a queen 6 times, but she can rap even better than Enimem. Who knew? What I know now is that I am afraid of her because she can cut even the fiercest competitor down to size. And I ain’t that fierce.
James Corden has done several Crosswalk the Musicals in Los Angeles on The Late Late Show including Grease and Beauty and the Beast, and now he taking his act to Broadway. Not inside a theater but on the streets outside those theaters in NYC.
If you are going to take over the great The Great White Way, you need some big names to sing and dance along side you. Therefore he got the three leads from The Greatest Showman to join him on the concrete. Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya and the CBS late night host belted out New York, New York from Our Town, Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat from Guys & Dolls, The Greatest Show from The Greatest Showman and closed it out with Fame. All those songs honoring the Big Apple, but they are just missing one, Lullaby of Broadway from 42nd Street. Other than that, bravo, bravo!
Plus, it is a Christmas miracle they are all alive because you don’t mess with NYers and traffic.
Yesterday, hours before James Corden was getting ready to tape The Late Late Show, his wife went into labor. The show had to go on, and he had to be with this wife or else she would divorce him and take the kids back to England. What to do? Call Harry Styles and ask him to do it. Since being a huge rock star and starring in a multi-nominated film is not enough, therefore he jumped at the opportunity with just a few hours of notice.
How did Kiwi singer do? Shockingly, really good. If I was Stephen Colbert I would be nervous. Could you imagine the ratings if the One Direction singer told CBS he wants to host a talk show. They would jump faster than he did and I am OK with that.
When it comes the Corden, he announced, “Today we welcomed a beautiful baby daughter into the world. Both she and her mother are doing great. We can’t stop smiling.” They should name her Harry, as a thank you gift.

Yesterday, it was time for the annual Christmas Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show and this time they sang Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Who was in the front seat with James Corden? Harry Styles, Katy Perry, Usher, Bruno Mars, The Foo Fighters, Miley Cyrus, P!nk, Sam Smith, Fifth Harmony, Ed Sheeran and Kelly Clarkson all sat next to him and one of them gave the CBS late night host a big kiss on the lips. Which one? You will just have to watch because it is worth it!
The Greatest Showman is coming to theaters in less than two weeks, and the main cast recorded a bit with James Corden today on the streets in Manhattan. What do those streets remind you of? Fame of course, so The Late Late Show host, Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron (in a blonde wig) and Zendaya will recreate that infamous number from the 1980 movie that made us all want to go to the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts.
No word when it will air on CBS, but we will not have to live forever to see it.
