My friend and I always joke that we are not Jeopardy Smart. She says she is Celebrity Jeopardy Smart, and I tell her I am Preschool Jeopardy Smart!
Anyways, there was a question of regular Jeopardy that made me feel like I was mensa. That is because, for the $800 answer for ’90s Music, the game showed a photo of a singer as Ken Jennings read, “This Country superstar’s Friends in Low Places was named CMA Single of the Year in 1991?” And would you believe none of them knew who Garth Brooks was?
How? I wasn’t even into Country music back then, and I knew who he was. I am flabbergasted that they didn’t know such a simple answer.
Oh, and Garth, don’t feel too bad about them not knowing who you are. Brandon thought that Sheryl Crow was Shania Twain.
Garth Brooks sat down with Billboard Country, and he told them something scary. The Country singer wants to bring back his Rock alter-ego Chris Gaines.
“The Gaines project was a lot of time put in — because it’s not natural, you’re acting on a record — but I want to do it simply for people who love the Gaines project,” Brooks said of re-adopting the alter-ego. “And selfishly, I love the Chris Gaines record, so I want to do it for me. It challenged me as a vocalist. So I don’t know when we’re going to get to it, but it’s on the list.”
Brooks introduced us to Gaines in 1999, and it went as well as New Coke or Jar Jar Binks. So I hope his friends in low (high places) convince him not to do it. Because I don’t think anyone wants to be reminded of that failure.
Back in 2008, Billy Joel played the last concert at Shea Stadium before they tore it down. Since it was such a monumental event, the singer invited some of his friends from low places to join him on the field. They were musicians like Garth Brooks and Steven Tyler.
The Country singer has an interesting story from that night, and he shared it with Kelly Clarkson on her daytime talk show.
Brooks told her that he showered with the Aerosmith singer. What? How have we not heard this before? Because it is not as exciting as it should’ve been.
Basically, he wanted to shower before the show, and all they had was the open showers you have in locker rooms. He thought he had it all to himself, but he didn’t. When he cleaned off her soap-covered eyes, he noticed that Tyler was in there with him like it was no big deal.
That is the difference between someone in a band and someone who is a solo act!
Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks are two of the biggest names in Country music. But they have never worked together until now. On May 11th, they are going to host The 58th Academy of Country Music Awards on Prime Video.
Brook said of his co-host, “Anyone with Dolly Parton makes a fantastic couple.”
“I am thrilled to return to host the ACM Awards, this time with my friend Garth,” said Parton. “While I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with him throughout the years, I can’t believe we’ve never had the chance to work together.”
And I am sure every artist in that auditorium can’t believe their two icons are going to be up on the stage hosting the show.
Parton said she is going to debut a single from her Rock album at the show. But I would rather she did a duet with Brooks. Although, if it is Rock, maybe it should be with Chris Gaines. Remember him?
Just when concerts started back up again, it looks like they are being shut down because of COVID-19’s Delta variant.
The first musician to cancel their shows as a precaution and safety for their fans is Garth Brooks. He made the announcement on his website today.
Since restarting the tour in July, The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour has entertained over 300,000 fans across the first 5 cities. Now, with a new wave of the Covid-19 virus spreading across the nation, the tour has arrived at the very difficult decision of cancelling and refunding approximately 350,000 tickets in the tour’s next 5 cities.
For ticket holders, no action is required to obtain a refund; Ticketmaster will issue a refund to the original method of payment used at time of purchase.
“In July, I sincerely thought the pandemic was falling behind us. Now, watching this new wave, I realize we are still in the fight and I must do my part. I have asked the wonderful cities of Cincinnati and Charlotte to wait too long and I don’t want to now do that same thing to the great folks in Boston and Baltimore. As far as Nashville, we are looking for a make up date from the July rain out and though this is not COVID related, to make them wait makes me sad, as well. So, it is with a heavy heart we announce the decision to cancel all 5 shows but with a hopeful heart, we will reschedule and start over when this wave seems to be behind us,” said Garth Brooks.
“The joy I have seen in everyone’s faces as live music returns has been more than worth our constant diligence to maintain safety protocols not only for the fans, but for our band, the crew and the hard working staff in these stadiums. Their dedication to safety for the people who fill those seats has been a miracle to watch and a blessing to receive. I am truly grateful.”
A spokesperson for the tour said the team will continue to monitor the virus’ impact and watch how schools, sports, and other entertainment entities are handling this stage of the pandemic. “I’m sincerely hoping we are back on tour before the year’s end,” said Brooks. “With that said, the most important thing to me is fulfilling my end of the Stadium Tour by making sure every show is doable before putting tickets on sale (that is why we pulled the Seattle on sale) and making sure the environment these people are trading their time and money to put themselves into is not only the best experience ever, but also the safest one we can provide.”
I don’t think the news is surprising. I have panic attacks every time I see photos from concerts, and no one is wearing masks and they are packed in like sardines.
You can say that only people who are vaccinated are admitted, but that doesn’t mean they do not have a breakthrough case. What if they give it to someone next to them who has a child under 12 at home. That child goes to school and gives it to a classmate who lives with a relative who can’t get the vaccine for whatever reason and dies.
This is why we keep saying get the vaccine and wear a mask. It is not only about protecting yourself; it is about protecting strangers from getting it.
And don’t come at me about freedoms and religion. Wearing a mask is an extra piece of clothing you are required to wear. You don’t like it, then let your dick and tits hang out. Oh, but that is not the freedom you were talking about. Actually, keep your micropenises and saggy boobs hidden. I don’t want to see them, and I don’t want to see your yellow teeth and ugly noses. Cover up; it is not about you. It is about your neighbors too. And doesn’t the Bible say, “Love thy neighbor?” It doesn’t sound like you are when you are being a selfish asshole. That goes against everything that religion teaches. Don’t believe me? Reread the Bible. As someone who majored in religion, I can tell you, with my degree, y’all are hypocrites.
So if you can get the vaccine, get it. Otherwise, you won’t be one of Brooks’ friends in low places!
