Fox moves Monarch to the Fall
January 13th, 2022 under Fox, Susan Sarandon, Trace Adkins. [ Comments: 1 ]

Monarch, the County Music Primetime Soap that stars Trace Adkins and Susan Sarandon, was supposed to debut at the end of the month. However, Fox announced yesterday, they are holding the drama until the Fall.

“With an incredible pedigree of talent and musical performances, the powerfully compelling drama, MONARCH, is a top priority for FOX Entertainment in 2022. Unfortunately, due to the unavoidable realities of the pandemic and the profound impact Covid-19 continues to have on our industry and around the world, it is necessary to reschedule MONARCH’s January 30 debut to the Fall. As the cornerstone of FOX’s new 2022-23 slate, shifting a show of this magnitude allows us to have its entire first season produced, create additional, high-profile content and promotional windows to support launch, and give our viewers the best opportunity to enjoy the series as intended with a non-compromised run of episodes. We thank our cast, producers, writers and the entire crew for their tireless work and continued dedication to the country music-filled world that is MONARCH.”

Personally, I am bummed. I was looking forward to it. But, I can wait a few months for the series to debut.

No word, what show will replace it, but I am sure Fox will tell us soon enough.

Fox’s NYE’s special Roast and Toast is toast
December 22nd, 2021 under Fox, Joel McHale, Ken Jeong. [ Comments: none ]

Fox is so excited about their New Year’s Eve special Roast and Toast hosted by Joel McHale and Ken Jeong that they spent yesterday afternoon posting videos and photos to promote it. However, a few hours later, they cancelled the shindig.

“While we are confident in the health and safety protocols for FOX’S NEW YEAR’S EVE TOAST & ROAST 2022, the recent velocity of the spread of Omicron cases has made it impossible to produce a live special in Times Square that meets our standards. We will not be moving forward with FOX’S NEW YEAR’S EVE TOAST & ROAST 2022 in New York. The health and safety of our casts and crews has always been, and will continue to be, of the utmost importance,” They said in a statement to Vulture. “Replacement programming for New Year’s Eve on FOX will be announced in the coming days.”

They made the right choice for the cast and crew. Plus, the writing is on the wall that NYC is going to cancel the Times Square NYE celebration.

That is why I am convinced that NBC is doing their show from Miami with Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson. They know Ron DeSantis isn’t going to cancel anything, even if everyone in the state was dying from a pandemic.

Should we call Call Me Kat, Blossom?
November 15th, 2021 under Fox, Joey Lawrence, Mayim Bialik. [ Comments: 1 ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov3MW2SJ8O4

Mayim Bialik has a new show on Fox. However, she is going to be reunited with cast members from one of her old shows on the second season premiere of Call Me Kat. Blossom’s Joey Lawrence, Jenna von Oÿ, and Michael Stoyanov will guest star as themselves on the episode that airs on January 9th.

So set your DVRs because you are not going to want to miss that episode.

Fox did not order any additional episodes of The Big Leap and Our Kind of People
November 8th, 2021 under Fox. [ Comments: none ]

Fox announced their midseason lineup, and two of their shows are missing. Those shows are The Big Leap and Our Kind of People, and TV Line is reporting that Fox did not order any more episodes from either show. That most likely means that they are cancelled, but they are not saying that as of now.

This news totally bums me out because I am loving The Big Leap. It is the first show I watch on Mondays, and I watch seven shows on this night.

So what is replacing those two shows? Here is the schedule.

Fantasy Island will fulfill more fantasies
November 4th, 2021 under Eric Winter and Roselyn Sanchez, Fox. [ Comments: none ]

Fox announced today that they picked up their summer hit Fantasy Island for a second season. The show is a sequel to the 1978 series with Roselyn Sanchez starring as Elena Roarke, Mr. Roarke’s niece.

“Thanks to the fantastic Roselyn Sanchez and charming Kiara Barnes and the captivating stories that tapped into the core tenets of emotion and aspiration, Fantasy Island was the perfect wish fulfillment and escape we all needed this summer,” said Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, FOX Entertainment. “Liz Craft, Sarah Fain and everyone at Sony and Gemstone did an excellent job on this series and, like all good things, it left us wanting more. We’re so happy to have Elena Roarke, Ruby Akuda and everyone on FANTASY ISLAND open their world again for a brief visit this winter and for a longer stay next year.”

What is this brief visit he is talking about? Fantasy Island is getting a 2-hour Christmas episode with Mackenzie Astin on December 21st.

Personally, I was pleasantly surprised it was picked up. I didn’t think it did well enough in the ratings, but I was wrong. And to be honest, I think it is better than the original. I watched the first one and the remake on Tubi, and I had to shut both of them off after a few episodes. However, I watched the whole season of the Fox program. Does that tell you how much I enjoyed it?
