The Emmys are less than a month away, and today, ATAS and ABC finally announced who will be hosting TV’s biggest night.
Who said yes? Eugene Levy and his son, Dan.
“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” said Eugene and Dan. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on Sept. 15.”
If this was 2020, this casting would be like so totally excellent. But instead, it is so up Schitt’s Creek.
Didn’t the Academy realize how many Schitt jokes there are going to be when they asked the father and son to take the job that it appears that no one at ABC wanted? Seriously, how many people said no before they settled on the Levys?
Oh, and don’t get me started on the nominations because they are also Schitt.
Are you excited about the Emmys after today’s announcement?
We are still two months away from the premiere of season 4 of Only Murders in the Building on Hulu, but we don’t have to wait until then to find out who Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, and Zach Galifianakis will play.
Not only will they be playing themselves, but they will also be playing the three leads.
Huh? Mabel, Charles, and Oliver are going to Hollywood because someone is making a movie about their podcast, and those three will play them.
What do you think of the casting? I think they did a great job with Steve Martin Short, but I would’ve gone with Demi Lovato or Miley Cyrus for Selena Gomez.
Let’s be honest. After we saw American Pie, we thought how cool it would be to have Eugene Levy as our dad.
What did Daniel Levy think about that? Since Eugene is his dad? He told Kelly Clarkson, “It’s a weird thing to grow up watching your dad just hand out porn to some other kid.”
And with that, you can tell that he watched the movie. But never with his parents. Thankfully, his friend warned him not to go see the film with his mother and father. So he missed out on going to the Los Angeles premiere because of that advice. And it was sage advice.
While that friend knew the dealio, his classmates did not. Therefore, they thought the picture was his autobiography.
And, I think, that is a bigger nightmare than anything Freddy Krueger could dream up.
Before Eugene Levy was known for his bushy eyebrows, he had a big bushy mustache in a Cannibal Girls. I could barely recognize the 25-year-old in the 1973 movie.
Before Dan Levy was an Emmy-winning producer for Schitt’s Creek, he played a producer in Degrassi Goes Hollywood. He looks the same now as he did when he was 25 in that 2009 telemovie.
