Ed Sheeran broke his social media silence to share some really happy news. He and his wife, Cherry, are the proud parents of baby girl.
The singer wrote this about his Galway Girl, “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you… Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x”
I can’t wait to hear all of the songs he writes for her. Which makes wonder why he didn’t choose an easier name to sing about.
Sheeran and Cherry have been married for less than two years. Most of which he was on tour. As soon he got home, he made his little Lyra.
Almost exactly a year ago, Ed Sheeran announced he was taking an 18-month break from music. However, The Sun says he is working on a new project with his wife, Cherry. They say that the two of them are going to have a baby any day now. It is amazing what they can do when they are in the same city.
A source told the British paper, “Ed and Cherry are over the moon. They’re very excited, but have kept things very low key.
“Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family.
“They’re just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer.
“It’s a really happy time and their families are all totally delighted for them and cannot wait to meet the new arrival.”
I betcha his next album will be full of lots of lullabies for baby Sheeran. He went from love songs to wedding songs to baby songs. The evolution sounds right.

He wrote, “Spent an entire month since tour ended painting, which I’ve never done before. Had so much fun doing it. If I’m honest I felt a bit useless once tour had ended, coz singing, writing and gigging is all I’ve ever known, so it’s nice to find a new way to be creative. I’d recommend anyone getting a few paints and having a splash around, it’s so fun. Righto – back to hibernation x 📸 @marksurridge.” Would you buy one of them?

Back on March 16, 2017, Ed Sheeran began his Divide tour. On Monday, after 260 shows, he finally ended it. Before he sang his final note, he had a message for his fans.
He said, “As you may or not know, I’ve been on the Divide tour for over two years now and this is the last day of the whole thing. There is something very bittersweet about it. I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich. This is my last gig for probably 18 months.
“We’ve played all around the world. Glastonbury, Wembley Stadium. All these amazing venues, America, New Zealand, Australia, Asia, South America — it’s been a wild one. I was told before I came on that now at the end of this tour I’ve played to nine million people around the world. It is the biggest tour ever.
“It’s been an emotional day for a lot of people backstage. It kind of feels like, in a weird way, that you’re breaking up with a girlfriend that you’ve been with for years. It sounds odd but it has been a long tour.”
The Sun says that he is expected to spend the time off with his new wife and maybe start a family. Normally, I would be upset about this news. However, after his last break, we got Divide. The best album released in the last decade. Thus, I am OK with his hiatus.
