The good news is that Taylor Kinney is returning to Chicago Fire this season. The bad news is that two actors are leaving the first responders procedural.

First, we learned that Kara Killmer, who plays Sylvie Brett, is leaving and will most likely join Casey. And today, Deadline reports that Alberto Rosende, who plays Blake Gallo, will depart the series in the season premiere on January 17th.

Deadline says that his exit was fully amicable.

Personally, I think there are other characters that they could’ve gotten rid of before his. But I am not the one doing the hiring and firing.

Has Law & Order: SVU hit hard times?
November 28th, 2023 under Dick Wolf, Hard times, Mariska Hargitay. [ Comments: none ]

Now that the strike is over, television shows don’t have the money to spend like they did last season. And Law & Order: SVU is going into their 25th season, so things are even more expensive for the police procedural.

Therefore, the actors are doing double duty. For example, Mariska Hargitay was seen holding a camera. So, has the NBC series hit hard times?

Nope, they are just having some fun on their first day of filming their 25th season. And that shows you much they like working with one aother.

SVU will be back with new episodes on January 18th.

The Law & Order revival has been back for two seasons and they already lost its two lead detectives. Anthony Anderson left before season two. And this week, Jeffrey Donovan departed ahead of season 3 due to creative differences.

Today, we found out that Reid Scott will be joining the police procedural. However, Variety did not know how he is going to be written into the show. Probably because the series was not expecting to lose Donovan a week ago.

We should learn more about Reid’s character when L&O returns on January 18th.

TV Roundup: Who’s hosting the Oscars? Who’s leaving Law & Order? Which show moves to the Fall?
November 15th, 2023 under Dick Wolf, Jimmy Kimmel, Oscars, Ryan Murphy. [ Comments: none ]

ABC and AMPAS announced today that Jimmy Kimmel will be back to host the Oscars for a fourth time on March 10th.

“After his triumphant return to the Oscars stage last year, we are honored to have Jimmy back to guide us through one of the most beloved celebrations in entertainment. He is such a valuable member of our Disney family, and we could not be more appreciative of him and his entire team,” said Craig Erwich, president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu and Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals. “We are also grateful to have the multitalented Molly back on the producing team, and we have no doubt that this year will be a spectacular night celebrating the biggest films of the year.”

I don’t know if I would want him back. Weird things happen when he does it. First, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced that the wrong movie won Best Picture in 2017. Then, last year, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock? What is going to happen in 2024? Only time will tell.

Law & Order is getting ready to get back into production, but they are going to do it with one less detective. That is because TV Line reports that Jeffrey Donovan is leaving the series due to creative differences, aka he got a Burn Notice.

Producers are looking for a replacement for this season’s 13 episodes. I am sure there are a lot of New York actors who will jump at the chance. I hope they go with a female like Jill Hennessy.

Donovan is not the first actor to leave the show. His TV partner, Anthony Anderson, opted not to return for the second season of the revival.

Due to the strikes, broadcast television lost half a season. Therefore, not all of the shows will be airing in the first part of 2024. Deadline is reporting that 9-1-1: Lone Star’s 5th season will not debut until the Fall. And this season will only be 12 episodes.

Lone Star is not the only show Fox is moving. New dramas Doc and Rescue: Hi-Surf are also waiting to make their debuts. And I am sure these series will not be alone. CBS already announced that Matlock and Poppa’s House will also be delayed until next season.

Back in January, Taylor Kinney took an indefinite leave from Chicago Fire to deal with an undisclosed personal matter. And he wound up taking the rest of season 11 off. Therefore, we wondered when and if he would be back.

Today, we learned that Severide has been written into the first few episodes of the NBC First Responders drama’s 12th season.

According to Deadline, his return is expected to be full-time. But there has been no confirmation.
