Sports is a serious business, but sometimes it can be really funny. Marv Albert was on The Late Show yesterday and he shared with David Letterman some of the best sports’ bloopers from last year! Sadly almost every sport was included but golf, so I guess that game is so boring they can’t even mess it up. Oh well maybe this year!
BTW where was something from the Olympics, I am sure they had a few good screw ups.
David Letterman was honored by the Kennedy Center Honors and Jimmy Kimmel honored him. The ABC late night host said that when he was 15 he watched Letterman’s show for the first time and he was instantly in love. He was so in to Letterman that he had a cake with his image on it for his Sweet 16, a Late Night vanity plate for his first car, drew pictures of the gap toothed face on his school books and even started a HS club dedicated to the show. Then he said, “To me it wasn’t just a TV show, it was the reason I would fail to make love to a live woman for many many years.”
So now that Kimmel is doing what his idol Letterman was doing, I wonder how many women he has been doing because of that?
David Letterman was honored at the Kennedy Center Honors and Ray Romano was one of the 4 celebrities that introduced him. When Romano was talking about what the CBS late night host means to him, he told a story and revealed something I didn’t know about Letterman. Romano said he was hired to do a pilot and just a day into rehearsals he was fired from it. But he didn’t give up. Then one Saturday he got a phone call from the Letterman people, and he was nervous about what they wanted just days after he appeared on The Late Show. When he got on the phone it was the show’s producer who said that Letterman liked what he saw and he wanted to sign him to a development deal. That deal lead to a little show called Everybody Loves Raymond. One of of the best sitcoms to ever grace our televisions. Who knew that Letterman was a silent partner in bringing that show to life. Now we all do thanks to The Kennedy Center Honors honoring the most respected late night host on TV today.
Jon Bon Jovi was a guest on The Late Show yesterday and David Letterman asked him about his friendship with Bruce Springsteen. The man with the best a$$ in Rock’n’Roll said that he played with The Boss for the first time back when he was only 16 years old. So the CBS late night host asked if Jon could ever be in the E Street Band and the singer said “I couldn’t have been in the sons of the E Street Band.” Then Letterman said, “I couldn’t be in the E Street Band. I lived on F Street.” That’s when Bon Jovi made that drum sound that every comedian knows when he bombs at a joke. So I guess you can say that joke got an F Street from Jon Bon Jovi and I am getting an F Street from all of you.
BTW I don’t know why, but in this interview I thought that Jon Bon Jovi’s speaking voice was so different than his singing one. It was so quiet as compared to the boisterous one you hear when you see him live in concert and I stare at his beautiful butt!
Since Christmas is 5 days away, some people are still shopping for presents for the little ones. Well yesterday on The Late Show David Letterman had on toy expert Shannon Eis and she brought some great gifts for boys and girls and people who never grew up…like the CBS late night host. The first toy was harmless and something I am buying for my cat. The next one was a remote controlled car that Letterman made hump a studio camera. Then he used it as a bowling bowl to knock down a bunch of Attacknids. Don’t know what those are, they are the coolest robotic spiders you will ever see! If they weren’t $100, I would buy a bunch of them to dance to Vanilla Ice every day. The final toy was a car for little girls and Letterman was a little too big for it. So it was a lot of fun to see him try to fit into it. Once he was finally in he tried to knock down the Christmas tree with it, and you will have to watch to see if Mr Lead Foot can do it at the high speed of 5 whole miles an hour.
