Howard Stern has said that Conan O’Brien is his favorite guest. So when the late night host was the shock jock’s radio show, the latter asked who is his favorite guest.
O’Brien told him that it was Bruce Springsteen. That is because the singer came early, rehearsed, got to know the cameramen’s names, and stayed after the show was done to hang out.
He was not the only one who came to work, so did Tom Hanks. Conan said that when Hanks was a host on Saturday Night Live, the Oscar winner spent 24/7 at 30 Rock. He also had tons of great ideas and was there to play.
I love to hear that two of the most beloved celebrities are not just putting on act. They are WYSIWYG.
Before Conan O’Brien had his own talk show, he got his start as a writer on Saturday Night Live who occasionally appeared on the Variety show. How awkward was the 27-year-old in that 1990 bit?
The reason why I know about that 31-year-old bit is that Conan explained how that led to him appearing during John Mulaney’s Five-Timer Club sketch a few weeks ago. To hear how it all came about, then click here!
Will Arnett teamed up with Netflix to give us Murderville, a murder mystery show that is half scripted and half improv. Will Arnett and a few other cast members are given a basic script, and the episode’s guest star is not given one. That guest has to pay attention because they have to solve the murder of the week.
Who are the victims? I mean guest cops, who work alongside Terry Seattle (Arnett)? They are Annie Murphy, Conan O’Brien, Ken Jeong, Kumail Nanjiani, Marshawn Lynch, Sharon Stone. Believe it or not, football star Lynch was the best one of them all, and they were all great as they put up with the comedic punches.
Each episode starts off with Chief Rhonda Jenkins-Seattle (Haneefah Wood) telling her soon-to-be ex-husband that he is getting a new partner. Then Seattle banters with them before they go to the morgue. When they get there, they are greeted by Medical Examiner Amber Kang (Lillian Bowen). She tells them how each victim was murdered and gives them some clues. Now, Seattle and his partner of the week are off to interview three different suspects. At the end of the interrogations, the guest star has to reveal who they think did and why? Once they make their reveal, the chief comes out and tells them if they are correct or if they are wrong.
Sounds easy, it isn’t. This is one of the few police procedurals where I didn’t get any of the killers correct. But then again, it could be because the biggest guest star was the cop and not the murderer. How evil is that?
Not as evil as Arnet is to all of them. He keeps them on their toes with his humor. All of the guest stars have to play off of him and not laugh. Jeong kept breaking while Stone was able to one-up his crazy antics. And there is Conan, who was taken down by a little girl. It was so awesome to watch.
Actually, all six episodes are fun to watch, and I hope that Netflix orders more because I need and want it. I need an episode with Will Forte!
Murderville is the type of show that you binge in one afternoon. However, you are going to watch it again to see if you can resolve all of the crimes now that you know who committed them and why.
I was once told in my advertising classes in college that you can’t drink alcohol on television. Well, imagine what the censors would do if someone smoked a joint on a talk show.
Yesterday, we found out when Conan O’Brien asked Seth Rogen what type of weed he should smoke. The actor took out a joint from his shirt pocket and gave it to the late night host to enjoy. Then Conan asked for a light because it is hard to get the full effect without it.
Once it was lit, Conan was lit as were Rogen and Andy Richter, who also took a hit. After they all had one, Rogen declared, “I am so happy with just what happened!” As are we.
Standards and Practices is not. However, there is nothing they can do. Marijuana is legal in California, and Conan only has two more episodes left of his talk show. It is not like they can fire him.
Before he gets to those two, he still had to finish interviewing Rogen. Did he get high as their chat continued? Just watch and see.
I am going to miss Conan because they don’t make talk show hosts like him anymore.
Oh, and in case you were wondering was this moment planned? Rogen said, “I smoked weed with
@ConanOBrien his show and was legit terrified that I got him too high haha. (This was a surreal and shocking moment for me and was genuinely unplanned)”
Paul Rudd has been a guest on Conan O’Brien’s late night talk shows for over 25 years. Every time he appears on the show, he makes sure to show a clip from a movie. Not the one he is promoting, but one from Mac and Me.
Yesterday, Rudd made a surprise appearance on Conan for the last week of the TBS show. Rudd promised to show a clip from an unaired Saturday Night Live skit he did with Bill Hader. Would this finally be the time that he would show something other than Mac and Me? Nope.
Then Rudd explained how it all came about. The Clueless actor thought it was “so artificial” to show a clip from the movie he was in, so he decided to show one from another movie. It was between showing the Mac and Me clip and one from Baby Geniuses. Eventually, we know which one he chose. Did he make the right choice? He made sure to show a clip; was it the one from Baby Geniuses? You are just going to have to watch the last chapter in a story that has been told for a quarter of a century.
