Before Boy George was starring in his own music videos with Culture Club, he was seen in Rick Wakeman’s I’m So Straight I’m A Weirdo. Even when he was just 18 making his on-camera debut in that 1980 music video, he was already a Karma Chameleon.
If you watched The New Celebrity Apprentice on Monday, then you saw ’80s Bad Boy Rockers Boy George and Vince Neil not get along on the NBC show. The Culture Club leader was upset that Motley Crue’s master was drinking in the studio when they were writing a jingle for Trident because he’s a recovering addict. It was the most confrontation we saw thus far, but we didn’t see it all. The Crying Game Crooner cried out Tweeted, “My tiff with @thevinceneil was worse off camera! Lol!” Then he added, “We made up though.” Enough to do a Vegas residency, only time will tell.
So is BG upset with the editing? He said, “@nbc #CelebrityApprentice it’s crazy how stuff is edited and my looking so glum at the end of episode 2 is outa context but I’m loving it!”
While he is OK with the editing take him out of context, I am upset we didn’t see their tiff as is. I am sure it would be funnier than Jon Lovitz’s jokes. Granted are most things?
When it comes to the Reality Competition show, I am loving it more with Arnold Schwarzenegger than that other guy. He is tough but fair and doesn’t play favorites. People who deserve to be eliminated are eliminated. It is not just the Project Manager who is responsible for screwing up. Plus, Arunld is so much more likeable. I also like that Governator explains how he came from nothing and made something of himself. He also calls out player who are playing it safe. The other guy didn’t, he was all about the face time. The Terminator is about teaching them how to be more successful in business and that is what the show should be about.
Boy George was being remotely interviewed by Seven Sharpe in New Zealand when he decided he had enough and walked out. The singer was not happy with the line of questioning about his past arrest in 2009 and he removed his IFB before walking out of the camera’s view.
He took to Twitter after the chat and said, “Just did a stinking interview for New Zealand which I ended @RobertDowneyJr style! Now I need my own movie franchise!” Meanwhile, Toni Street was shocked that he was not happy with her line of questioning.
I get it she is a reporter and wanted to know more, but at the same point when you are promoting a concert in that country would you want to talk about your past arrest?
Oh and like the interview, that Culture Club concert date was cancelled shortly afterwards.
Both Boy George and Jack Black are guests on Conan tonight and the TBS late night host asked the Culture Club singer who some of his musical influences are. George O’Dowd told him they are some of the ’70s biggest bands like The Doors. The Tenacious D rocker agreed and added that Jim Morrison has the best yell in Rock’n’Roll. Conan told them if they like The Doors so much, then why don’t they sing one of their songs. They agreed and Robbie Krieger from the band joined them.
What happens next is so trippy, I feel like I was doing some of the same things Morrison did back in the day.
Even though all of their styles are so different, oddly enough, combined it works.
So as The Doors said, “Hello, I Love You, won’t you tell me your name?” C’mon once Boy George is done touring with his band, he should totally tour with Black and Krieger. What should we call them?
Culture Club just can’t miss each other blind, so they are getting back together again. Boy George and the Club didn’t just take part in this photoshoot, but they will also be touring Great Britain in December, and they are recording a new album together as we speak. Their first one in 15 years.
I guess some can say It’s a Miracle, but I will say it is just Karma Chameleon. Let’s just hope they only sing The War Song during concerts because I would like to attend the Church of the Poison Mind one more time. They truly are a great band to see live. Plus a bunch of their tunes have stood the test of time.
