When I heard that Fox was bringing back Love Connection with Andy Cohen as the host, I didn’t know what to expect. I was not sure what they were going to do to modernize it and if that modernization would ruin what made the original version so enjoyable. After watching the first episode, I am happy there is a perfect mix from the old and new versions, so you are going to want to make a date with it tonight and every Thursday this Summer at 9p.
The episode starts off with a suitor in a video describing why they decided to do the dating show. Then they come out to talk to Andy and we get to see the 3 people they went on a date with. As we meet each potential lover, we get to learn how they rated each other on just their appearances only. Next up we get hear how their dates went both live on the show and with confessions that were recorded on the date. Finally, it is time for them to decide which of the three they want to go out with again. If they audience picks the same person, the suitor gets $10,000. If not, they have to choose the date or the money. It will be interesting to see how many have a love connection and how many have a money connection.
Earlier this week, I was on a conference call with Cohen and he previewed the upcoming season.
What type of daters will we see?
AC: Oh my Gd, we’ve got a great lesbian group of daters, one of whom comes out to her mother on the air. We’ve got a man who is in his 70’s who went on his first Tinder date or a first online date recently and the woman stood him up. So we set him up with three dates. We’ve got the gay guys; we have a surprising Real Housewife. We have a lot of big ones.
Who plans the date?
AC: They [the three daters] plan the dates [with the suitor]. We give them $500 and say do anything with it.
Did the show make any Love Connections?
AC: Yes, you have updates on everybody and it’s incredible how many people are still dating and we’re keeping the updates kind of up to the minute.
What made him want to the show?
AC: It’s just I loved the format, I loved asking awkward questions. It just felt like the perfect marriage of a show for me, of format.
How is he as a matchmaker?
AC: I’ve had matchmaking successes for people who have wound up having great dates or hooking up, but I have not hooked up a couple that has wound up getting married.
Would he sit on the other side of the couch?
AC: I would go on three dates but I don’t know if I would do it on TV.
A while ago, there was a rumor that Bethenny Frankel and Eric Stonestreet were getting it on. Yesterday, when both of them were on Watch Watch What Happens Live Happens Live with Andy Cohen an audience member asked them what the dealio is? They both grabbed their drinks trying to avoid the answer. Eventually, the Modern Family star fessed up, “I mean, we met, and I think, we both decided we make much better friends.” Although he did confess, “She is a wonderful kisser.” There’s your answer, for all of those who were wondering.
Now I have a question for you, are you also picturing them having sex? Tell me I am not suffering alone.
Andy Cohen brought his show Watch What Happens Live to Los Angeles this week and his guest last night was Conan O’Brien. During the after show someone wanted to know who are their biggest backstage Divas? The TBS host’s answer was boring and a joke, but the Bravo one’s was perfect.
Cohen said, “Mine is Mariah Carey and I think it is a good thing.” Then he explained why, “She had me switch seats because she has a better side…She was a Diva in a way that I would want her to be a Diva.” Would you expect any less from Mimi, Darlings?
When it comes to her better side, it is so true. I am not saying her left side is ugly, it is just that her right side is much prettier.
Andy Cohen asked Hilary Swank to play Plead the Fifth on Watch What Happens Live yesterday and we are not sure if she revealed something juicy about a former co-star.
First, he asked the Boys Don’t Cry star if she “ever dipped in the lady pond?” Without hesitation she told the Bravo talk show host, “No!” Then he wanted to know who was her most and least enjoyable onscreen kisses. Going off of the question, she said Chloe Sevingy. Then we had to guess if that was the best or worst. When he asked her if that means she is the best, she was like, “Sure?” Then she blurted out, “Richard Gere.” Does that mean the sex symbol is the worst? All the Oscar winner would say is, “I didn’t say that.” Or did she? What do you think?
Andy Cohen asked Amber Tamblyn about her husband David Cross drinking her breast milk, and what happens next is why they call this show Watch What Happens Live. The new mom had pumped before she came out and she asked him if he would want to try it. Even though he made a face, he agreed to do it. Once it was in his hands, he was rightfully hesitant. But then with the whole audience screaming, “Chug, chug, chug,” he did it. Then we all cringed with him. So gross.
Later on the show, the Joan of Arcadia star revealed to him that she drank her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants costar’s breast milk once, so in way he had both Blake Lively and her breast milk in his mouth. Maybe the third movie should be called Sisterhood of the Traveling Breast Milk. They just keep passing a baby around their boobs. Or maybe not.
