Last week, viewers fell in love with American Housewife and tonight at 8:30p on ABC they get to love her and her family even more. Katie (Katy Mixon’s) kids keep her up all night and all she wants is a nap. Every time she gets close to closing her eyes, something else comes up. Moms around the World will understand her pain, as people will laugh with her about the never ending desire for a quick shut.

Then at 10p but over on NBC, it is a nice day to go for a swim on This Is Us. Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) take their triplets to the community pool and we see how hard it is for parents to monitor 3 kids who are the same age at once. As we see them struggle, we also get to see how little things from this outing effect them when they get older.
Fast forward to modern day, Kevin (Justin Hartley) has moved to NY and he already has his first audition. To say it doesn’t go well would be an understatement. Thankfully he has his brother Randall (Sterling K. Brown) nearby. Only problem is Randall and his biological father are still trying to acquaint with each other. Then there is Kate (Chrissy Metz) who just saw her boyfriend’s ex wife, who is perfect, for the first time. Now she wants to get to know her better. She gets really close to her. Maybe too close.
And This Is Us is close to our hearts.
The Middle is finally back on ABC tonight at 8p and there are more changes besides its new night. Sue Heck (Eden Sher) is back from her summer working at Dollywood and she is a different woman. Brick (Atticus Shaffer) is starting high school and he is trying to be a new man. Axl (Charlie McDermott) on the other has a new girl in his life and no one likes her.
The one thing that hasn’t changes is how funny this show is.

Then at 8:30p, American Housewife debuts and she fits in perfectly on Tuesday nights. Katie (Katy Mixon) is a married housewife with three kids renting in the ritzy Westport, Ct. The women are all skinny and perfect and Katie is not. Now that the second fattest woman is moving to Vermont, she will be the second fattest woman in Westport. Something she will do hardest to stop from happening. She will recruit her supportive husband (Diedrich Bader) to help her on the mission and her young daughter Anna-Kat (Julia Butters) that has fitting in issues. Her older daughter Taylor (Meg Donnelly) blossomed over the summer and now Katie is afraid she will turn into one of them. Her son Harrison (Daniel DiMaggio) already has. She has her hands full with them, but some how she makes it work. And this show doesn’t have to work on the humor because it comes naturally

Then at 9p, Fresh Off The Boat is heading to Taiwan for Louis (Randall Park) brother’s (Ken Jeong) wedding. For Louis and Jessica (Constance Wu) it is going home and for their kids it is experiencing the place they come from. Eddie (Hudson Yang) doesn’t want to be there, he just wants to be with his girlfriend. He told her he would fax her every day, but he can’t seem to find one. When he finally returns home, she tells him it’s over.
Tonight’s episode is beyond special because it is the first scripted show to go to Taiwan. Therefore, it is cool to see the country through their eyes.
Then at 9:30p, The Real O’Neals are back and they want to let you know it is Gay friendly after Noah Galvin’s controversial interview. Therefore they start it out with a Gay Pride parade and him calling up Lance Bass who calls Jane Lynch who calls Tyler Oakley who calls RuPual. If that is not enough, then his character starting an LGBT group should do it for you.
But not for me. I am like an elephant and don’t forget.

Finally at 10p but over on NBC, Chicago Fire is back and it is just as hot as ever. Now that Dawson is a mom (Monica Raymund) firefighting isn’t the same for her. She has some decisions to make. A decision that might come easier when Jimmy (Steven R. McQueen) tells off the Chief (Eamonn Walker). It isn’t all serious, someone has been writing fan faction about the firehouse and they have to figure out who is doing. All this leads to the shocking final seconds that will change someone’s life forever.
Last Man Standing is the only sitcom that does very special episodes and tonight at 8p on ABC they are tackling Vaping. Mike (Tim Allen) and Vanessa (Nancy Travis) catch their daughter Mandy (Molly Ephraim)smoking an eCig and lecture her about. Vanessa explains to her they are not as harmless as she thinks, but will that be enough to convince her to stop? Shockingly, it is enough to get Vanessa to start smoking cigarettes again. It a conundrum that a lot of family faces and this show does a brilliant job showing all sides.
Then at 9p but over on GSN, Hellavator is back in commission. Each week 4 people will enter the elevator, but there is no guarantee they will make it out. They will each face at least one of the Seven Deadly Sins (greed, sloth, anger, envy, gluttony, lust and pride) in challenges that will leave you never wanting to ride in elevator again. If they defeat Jen and Sylvia Soska, aka the Twisted Twins, then they can go home with up to $50,000. If not, they don’t go home.
If you need to only take the stairs, then watch this scary game show. Or watch it just because it is a great way to end your week!
Back in the ’70s, everyone was ga ga over The Gong Show and now ABC is bringing it back! Will Arnett has been tapped to host the first ten episodes that will debut at a later date.
I say first 10 because if it is as successful as Celebrity Family Feud, Match Game and The $10,000 Password, it will be back for many more episodes. I seriously don’t know why ABC keeps their Sunday night lineup with declining dramas going when they can do a night of game shows that have proven to do well for them in the Summer when no one is watching. They do better and since it is all about that is what I prefer to watch.
Hopefully, they will bring back the Unknown Comic!
How excited are you for the return of The Gong Show?
ABC announced today that my favorite new show and new comedy, Designated Survivor and Speechless, respectively, were picked up for full seasons. Even though both shows suffered a ratings slip in week 2, they still did well for their timeslots.
Moving past that, I am excited I get to watch 20 more episodes of the shows.
On a side note, I think Kal Penn deserves an Emmy for his work on the drama.
