Willy Wonka’s golden ticket winners reunited! |

46 years ago, the World fell in love with the movie version of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Over the weekend, they did a live performance of it at the Hollywood Bowl and some of the original cast members reunited for the production.
No word if they used Charlie’s glass elevator to get to Hollywood, but I would not be surprised if that is exactly what Michael Bollner (Augustus), Julie Dawn Cole (Veruca Salt), Peter Ostrum (Charlie) and Paris Themmen (Mike Teevee) did to get here. Either that or Weird Al Yankovic, who was playing all of the Oompa Loompas, finally rescued them from the Chocolate Factory and brought them to the show.
Either way, are you as happy as Charlie was when he find that golden ticket to see them all together again? I know I am! Too bad Gene Wilder is not alive to enjoy the love we still have for the movie that has made so many kids happy over the last 4 decades!
BTW can you believe that they are all between 58-60 years old? I still see them as those little kids meeting Willy Wonka for the first time and running into his Chocolate Factory. From Pure Imagination to pure joy!

Lisa Whelchel does something so opposite of Blair Warner |
August 8th, 2017 under 70s, Bad Hair, The Facts of Life. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’70s and ’80s, Lisa Whlechel played the posh socialite Blair Warner on The Facts of Life. A character that was such a rich bitch, she would never let anyone know she was not the natural blonde that she claimed to be.
That was 40 years ago, today the actress does not care if you know her natural hair color. Not only that, she is not afraid to show you with a huge head of tin foil, playing a game of chess with her daughter. Proving not everyone plays a character like themselves, yet they are masterful at making us believe that they do.
When it comes to the photo of the Survivor, she is gorgeous no matter what. Tin foil wrap, frizzy hair and all. Don’t you agree?

The Bionic Woman and The Six Million Dollar Man together again! |
June 1st, 2017 under 70s, Reunions. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the mid-’70s, people were in love with The Six Million Dollar Man and its spinoff The Bionic Woman. So much so, Lindsay Wagner and Lee Majors reprised their roles for a 1987 telemovie. Now 30 years after that reunion, they are reuniting once again for another project. We don’t know what it is because this is all Jamie Sommers told us is, “Filming a new family feel-good movie this week on the west coast of Canada with #LeeMajors.”
Too bad it is not another Bionic movie because they could easily play Sommers and Steve Austin again without any problems. They both have aged wonderfully! Maybe they got some bionic work done on them when they were filming their series and that is why they look so young?
BTW The Six Million Dollar Man sounds so cheap now. You cannot get a Bionic Man for that amount of money. Maybe a bionic arm or leg, but that is about all. He would have to be The Six Billion Dollar Man with inflation to make it in 2017. Right?
UPDATE: It looks like we have a name for the movie and it is Countdown to Love directed by Christie Will.

It’s Wonder Woman and Bionic Woman! |
May 19th, 2017 under 70s, Lynda Carter. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’70s, little girls all over America looked up to two TV female characters and they were Wonder Woman and Bionic Woman. Yet, Diana Prince and Jamie Sommers only met in the comic books and never on the small screen. Now almost 40 years after that graphic novel series came out, the two women met at Paley Center’s Women in Television Gala.
Even though Lynda Carter and Lindsay Wagner’s shows ended in the late ’70s and they are both in their mid-60’s, they still look like the Superheroes we know them to be. So much so, I don’t know why someone doesn’t turn those comics into a series with them reprising the roles that made them famous. I bet it would be a ratings hit!

It’s Love Boat’s Captain Stubing and his daughter Vicki! |
May 4th, 2017 under 70s, Jill Whelan, Reunions. [ Comments: 2 ]

It has been 40 years since The Love Boat set sail and the ship’s captain and his daughter did press to honor the milestone. Here is Gavin MacLeod and Jill Whelan waiting to talk to some reporters.
Nice to see the actors still look like a real father and daughter after 4 decades. Which I can’t believe it has been that long. Even harder to believe he is 86 and she is 50 because they both look like they could still be the King and Princess of any cruise.
BTW my dad looks forward to watching this show every Sunday on Me TV. I am surprised with all the reboots, they haven’t brought this show back again. MacLeod and Whelan could reprise their roles and I bet it would be a hit! Great way to showcase network stars like this show did in the ’70s and ’80s.
