Huey Lewis risked his life to film a sketch with Weird Al Yankovic
March 1st, 2023 under Huey Lewis, Weird Al Yankovic. [ Comments: none ]

Nine years ago, Weird Al Yankovic and Huey Lewis did a bit for Funny and Die parodying American Psycho, and the lead singer of Huey Lewis and the News almost died doing it.

Today Lewis revealed that he was willing to die (literally) to work with Weird Al, “@alyankovic: I was scheduled to have gall bladder surgery on the day of the shoot, but I postponed it because I really wanted to do the video! So my main concern was hoping that my gall bladder wasn’t going to explode in the middle of a take.”

Thankfully that didn’t happen. But if it did, what a way to go.

May 17th, 2021 under Busta Rhymes, Huey Lewis, J-Lo, Paramount+, Ricky Martin. [ Comments: none ]

Remember when VH1 used to air Behind the Music, and we learned the scandalous life stories of musicians we knew and didn’t know about? Well, it is back on July 29th, and it is available exclusively on Paramount+.

The artists they are focusing on for season 1 are Jennifer Lopez, LL Cool J, Ricky Martin, Huey Lewis, Busta Rhymes, and Fat Joe.

Who do you want them to go behind the music with for the second season because you know there is going to be one? I also want follow-ups on celebrities they did the first time, like Leif Garret.

Huey Lewis and the News use front line workers in their music video
August 19th, 2020 under Huey Lewis. [ Comments: none ]

Huey Lewis and the News have a new album out, and today they released the music video for their song I am There for You.

The song is perfect for our front line workers in the hospital, police stations, veterinarians, and the supermarket during the coronavirus pandemic because they have been there for us. Therefore, they recruited doctors, nurses, officers, vets, and grocery workers to be part of it as a thank you for all they have been doing for us in their thankless jobs. That is why we need to thanks them as much as possible.

I don’t know about you, but this video left me with a huge smile on my face! Thank you to the band.

Huey Lewis breaks his silence about his voice being silenced
May 7th, 2018 under Huey Lewis. [ Comments: none ]

Last month, Huey Lewis broke the sad news that he is suffering from Meniere’s disease. A disorder that has affects the way that he hears music. Because of that, he was forced to cancel all of Huey Lewis and the News’ remaining tour dates. Something he had only done 5 times in the past 40 years. That is just one of the things he told Jenna Bush on Today today.

The 67-year-old singer told her that he can hear people talking, but “I can’t hear music. I can do everything but what I love to do the most, which is, you know, a drag.”

Then he told her there is not cure for it, but you can try to manage it with a diet of no caffeine and less salt. Doctors told him, it can get better. As of now, it has not. But it has only been 3 months since the heart of Rock’n’Roll stopped beating for him during a show in Dallas back in early February.

Besides making the dietary changes, he is also working with the Starkey Hearing Foundation with an experimental device to block out all of the sounds that the disease is causing him to hear. If he can hear pitch, then he might be able to perform again.

Something I am wishing and hoping for him. I saw him perform in person on Jimmy Kimmel Live and it was a great show. Someone who loves music as much as him should be able to shake, rattle and roll to it.

Hopefully, with the power of love, he will be able to hear the music again by the time the band’s newest album is released and by opening night of the musical based on their tunes.
