A few years ago, I saw the play Buyer and Cellar, which is based on the possible person who works in the mall that Barbra Streisand has in her basement.
Ever since then, I have wanted to see that mall. And yesterday, I did when the legend gave Stephen Colbert a tour of it on his Late Show. Babs showed him two of the stores; one displayed rare, old dolls, and the other was a gift shop full of antiques.
It was even better than I thought. I just wished she had given the tour to someone who was less concerned about making unfunny jokes instead of appreciating the unique opportunity he was given.
So, the Raid the Cage host shared her story. Mamma Mai was a refugee from Vietnam, and she had her daughter here in America. As is the case with all births, it hurt. So, the doctors asked her if she wanted an epidural. When she got to the end of the paperwork, she found out it would cost her money to have one.
Therefore, she wanted something that was free, so they put on the television. What was on? I Dream of Jeannie. Then she said, “I dream of my first daughter in America. I dream of Jeannie.”
Jeannie loves her name because it reminds her of how much pride she has to represent her parents here. And I love that story!
The new CW tried to do sitcoms with imports from all over the World, and it doesn’t seem to be working out for them.
That is because first they pulled Australia’s The Bump, and now they are doing the same to Canada’s Run for the Burbs and Britain’s Everyone Else Burns.
It is not all sad news. Canada’s Son of a Critch and Children Ruin Everything are still airing on Thursdays. At least for now…
Yesterday on Family Guy, Peter and Lois had a big fight because he screwed up. So, he decided to make it up to her by getting her a Cameo with Chris Daughtry. And it worked. But not in the way he wanted!
I would love to know how they made this happen because it was brilliant and so unexpected.
And did they pay the singer a salary or just his Cameo fee? That is, if it wasn’t temporarily unavailable.
