Can you believe it is March?

Can you believe it is March 1st? I can’t, and we are not alone. There are anchors all over the country who also can’t believe it.

I believe that because Jimmy Kimmel Live made a compilation of them saying the exact thing. At least, there is solidarity in news.

Huey Lewis risked his life to film a sketch with Weird Al Yankovic
March 1st, 2023 under Huey Lewis, Weird Al Yankovic. [ Comments: none ]

Nine years ago, Weird Al Yankovic and Huey Lewis did a bit for Funny and Die parodying American Psycho, and the lead singer of Huey Lewis and the News almost died doing it.

Today Lewis revealed that he was willing to die (literally) to work with Weird Al, “@alyankovic: I was scheduled to have gall bladder surgery on the day of the shoot, but I postponed it because I really wanted to do the video! So my main concern was hoping that my gall bladder wasn’t going to explode in the middle of a take.”

Thankfully that didn’t happen. But if it did, what a way to go.

David Hasselhoff cancelled his tour

David Hasselhoff was getting ready to start his tour in Europe for the latter part of March, but  he called it off.

“I was so looking forward to partying our Hasselhoff with you in two weeks. This was supposed to be a big singalong with a lot of dancing – something that is more important than ever. We had put together a beautiful show that would have thrilled everybody. Unfortunately, I’ve come down with an eye infection that is making it impossible for me to put on the kind of show that you all deserve. With a heavy heart I have to cancel the tour. I am really sorry that I have to disappoint you all,” The Hoff wrote. “I’ll be back…DH”

Hopefully, he will be better soon because you don’t want to mess with the eyes.

What is, Daniel Radcliffe on Jeopardy asking Harry Potter questions?
March 1st, 2023 under Harry Potter, Jeopardy. [ Comments: none ]

When you think of Harry Potter, you think of Daniel Radcliffe. Therefore, it makes sense that Jeopardy would ask him to ask the questions in their category, which is all about his time as his wizard.

He did such a great job; I think he should be the new host of Jeopardy. They are still looking for one. Right?

And talking about how good of a job people did. How did you do with the category? I didn’t get a single question right, and my nieces will shame me for it. They are obsessed with him, and I know nothing about Hogwarts. Is that what they are called?

Ed Sheeran explains his social media absence
March 1st, 2023 under Ed Sheeran. [ Comments: none ]

Ed Sheeran had a lot of stuff to get off of his chest, so he talked about it on social media.

First, he announced that he will be releasing his new album, Subtract, on May 5th. And it is available to preorder today.

Second, the singer recently revealed that he has been going through a lot emotionally, but he didn’t say what it was. Today, he opened up about everything that has happened to him over the last year.

I had been working on Subtract for a decade, trying to sculpt the perfect acoustic album, writing and recording hundreds of songs with a clear vision of what I thought it should be. Then at the start of 2022, a series of events changed my life, my mental health, and ultimately the way I viewed music and art.

Writing songs is my therapy. It helps me make sense of my feelings. I wrote without thought of what the songs would be, I just wrote whatever tumbled out. And in just over a week I replaced a decade’s worth of work with my deepest darkest thoughts.

Within the space of a month, my pregnant wife got told she had a tumour, with no route to treatment until after the birth. My best friend Jamal, a brother to me, died suddenly, and I found myself standing in court defending my integrity and career as a songwriter. I was spiralling through fear, depression and anxiety. I felt like I was drowning, head below the surface, looking up but not being able to break through for air.

As an artist I didn’t feel like I could credibly put a body of work into the world that didn’t accurately represent where I am and how I need to express myself at this point in my life. This album is purely that. It’s opening the trapdoor into my soul. For the first time, I’m not trying to craft an album people will like, I’m merely putting something out that’s honest and true to where I am in my adult life.

I hope his wife is better now and the tumor was benign.

When it comes to Subtract, it sounds like the greatest songwriter of his generation is going to release an album that is raw and vulnerable. And I can’t wait to hear every word that comes out of his mouth. Although, I might need therapy when I am done listening to it.
