Watch Black Friday instead of shopping on Black Friday
November 28th, 2021 under Bruce Campbell. [ Comments: none ]

Black Friday is the scariest day in retail. There is nothing scarier than a customer who wants that discount and will do anything to get it. Imagine working at a toy store right after Thanksgiving? That is what nightmares are all about. Or so they thought at We Love Toys.

Little did they know that during a meteor shower, something came down, and it is turning people into killer-like Zombies. Now, they are dealing with blood-thirsty customers, and they are much more terrifying than a mother who needs that hard-to-get-toy for their spoiled child.

So who are the employees fighting for their lives? There is Johnathan (Bruce Campbell), who is the store’s primary manager. He has been working there for decades, and he will do anything for corporate. Brian (Stephen Peck) is the anal assistant manager, and he likes torturing everyone. Ken (Devon Sawa) is a father of two girls, and he wants to be the cool dude at the store. Chris (Ryan Lee) is a nerdy guy who loves that he is working at the store he begged his parents to take him to as a kid. Marnie (Ivana Baquero) is the tough girl. But she is not as tough as Archie (Michael Jai White). All Anita (Celeste Olivia) wants is to be is the employee of the month, and she is over and over again. And finally, there is Emmett (Louie Kurtzman) and tonight is his first day on the job. What a crappy day to start a new job.

Together, they are going to do everything they can to get out of their alive. Something that is not easy to do because the customers are indestructible and just won’t die. Can anything kill them? Or is this the rare movie where no one gets out alive? You will have to own it on home video to find out,

And you will want to find out. I suggest watching it every Thanksgiving. This way, you will remember that it is not safe to shop on Black Friday. Instead, you can wait until Cyber Monday to do it from the safety of your home, where the only virus will affect your computer and not turn your co-shoppers into murderous creatures.

Personally, I am not a fan of Zombie-like films. Even as a kid, they were not my favorite. Therefore, it is rare that I like anything in this genre. I didn’t like this film; I loved it. They don’t waste any time for the transformation to take effect. Once it starts, it is like speeding in a shopping cart with no walls in sight. In other words, it is a nonstop thrill ride that you never want to end.

Not only are there plenty of scares, but there are also are plenty of laughs. Did you expect anything less from a film that stars Bruce Campbell? He is the King of this genre when he is not playing the King!

Buy Black Friday for everyone on your nice list. This way, they will remember not to venture out after Turkey Day. Instead, they will stay home, watch this movie, and enjoy feeling stuffed as the turkey did 24 hours earlier.

A Castle for Christmas is the Rom-Com to enjoy this holiday season
November 27th, 2021 under Brooke Shields, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

Brooke Shields and Cary Elwes are the romantic couple to beat during this season of holiday films in Netflix’s A Castle for Christmas.

Sophie Brown (Shields) is a beloved novelist until she kills off her leading man. Now, everyone, including Drew Barrymore, hates her. Since she is so hated, she knows she needs to get far away. So she goes to the castle that her grandfather worked at in Scotland.

As soon as she arrives, she meets Myles (Elwes). He is a grumpy Duke who owns the castle. He is going through hard times, and he needs to sell his family’s home. However, he doesn’t want to do it. And he doesn’t want to sell it to Sophie, who made an offer on the castle.

Therefore, he comes up with a bunch of rules to make her miserable. He thinks that if he does that, she will go back to America. Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t know who he is messing with. She is in it for the long haul.

Especially since she has befriended several of the townspeople. She joined the local knitting group with Helen (Tina Gray), Angus (Stephen Oswald), Maisie’s (Andi Osho), Thomas (Lee Ross), and Rhona (Eilidh Loan) at the Inn where she stayed when she first arrived. They make her time there special. And they have accepted because she is one of them, thanks to her grandfather who grew up there.

That is another thing that makes Myles unhappy. However, eventually, Sophie makes him happy. Will the author become a Duchess, or will Myles die all alone, broke in his castle? You are just going to want to watch this endearing movie to find out.

A Castle for Christmas follows a lot of the holiday movies’ format, but without the cheese factor. I enjoy the cheese factor, but I can only watch so much of that before I go back to Christmas Horror movies. This film makes me want to watch more Christmas movies. So there is no Bah Humbug factor with it.

So, put on the fireplace, get the eggnog, and Netflix and Chill with the romantic couple of the season.

Blue’s Clues & You goes blue and gold for Chanukah
November 26th, 2021 under Nickelodeon. [ Comments: none ]

Today at 12n on Nick Jr. Blue’s Clues & You celebrates the Festival of Lights. Someone from Blue’s family is coming for a visit to celebrate Chanukah with them, and they don’t know who. So Josh and Blue are going to follow the clues until they figure it out.

As they work through the clues, they learn different things about the Jewish holiday. Things like how to play with the Spin the Dreidel, light the menorah, and how to make latkes.

This episode is great for kids and adults who do not know much about the holiday. The show does an excellent job of explaining it. If we all got to know about everyone’s religions, maybe we wouldn’t be so hateful.

Thank you to Nickelodeon for teaching them while they are young and making it enjoyable for all.

Josh knows how to inspire people with his positive, friendly warmth. I can see why kids adore this program so much! I am going to watch it more often, so I can feel like a kid again.
