Even Punky Power couldn’t save Punky Brewster
August 20th, 2021 under Peacock, Soleil Moon Frye. [ Comments: none ]

When NBC Universal announced that they were launching the streaming network Peacock, they revealed that they were doing a revival of Punky Brewster. Kids of the ’80s were like super excited to have her back.

But unfortunately, I found it to be a letdown. It felt like a completely different show that was not loyal to the original.

I guess I am not alone because Variety is reporting that Peacock cancelled the sitcom after 10 episodes.

Do you find this news grossaroo, or do you think they made the right choice?

BTWF: Chris Meloni for Burger King
August 20th, 2021 under Before They Were Famous, Chris Meloni. [ Comments: none ]

Before Chris Meloni was being cheesy and hamming up for the camera, he was eating Burger King’s ham and cheese sandwich. He looks the same now as he did when was 27 in that 1989 commercial.

Look it’s Mrs. Cunningham and Cindy Brady
August 19th, 2021 under 70s, Marion Ross, The Brady Bunch. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’70s, every little kid wanted a mom like Mrs. Cunningham and a friend like Cindy Brady. However, the two never met because they were in different decades. Now that Marion Ross and Susan Olsen are both in 2021, we get to see what it would be like to hang out with the both of them.

While we won’t personally be able to do it, Josh Gates got to do it on Josh Gates Tonight yesterday. I don’t know about you, but I am so jealous of him.

Now that we got that out of the way, can we talk about the Happy Days matriarch never ages? Can you believe that she is 92 years young? We should all be like her when we get that old.

Want to feel old now? The youngest Brady Bunch star just turned the big 6-0 on the 14th. Shady Pines, I am coming your way

The Frogger game show looks frogging amazing
August 19th, 2021 under Peacock. [ Comments: none ]

When Peacock announced that they were making a live-action game show based on the Frogger videogame, I was like, how are they going to do that? Today, we got a glimpse of it in the trailer.

It is Frogger meets Wipeout meets American Ninja Warrior, and I am all for it. As a viewer, not a competitor.

Are you going to be watching on September 9th as contestants get injured all in the hopes of winning $100,000? I will be there! But then again, Frogger is one of my favorite videogames.

Amazon Prime Video gets into the award show business
August 19th, 2021 under Awards, Prime Video. [ Comments: none ]

There are so many award shows these days, that you can’t watch all of them. Therefore, their ratings are down and too costly for the networks. Therefore, it makes sense that broadcast would want to part ways with them, and streaming would want to pick them up.

Case in point, Amazon Prine Video announced today that they will be airing the Academy of Country Music Awards starting in 2022.

“We’re excited to continue to expand our content offerings for Prime Video customers by being the exclusive home for the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2022 and honoring the best in country music,” said Vernon Sanders, co-head of television, Amazon Studios. “Reaching this milestone with our partners at the Academy of Country Music and MRC as the first major awards show to be livestreamed speaks to our dedication and commitment to continue to both entertain and innovate for our audience.”

I have a feeling we will be getting a lot of concert events leading up to the ACMs. So it is a win/win for everyone but CBS, who used to air the ACMs.

I believe that if this does well, other award shows will do the same. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Golden Globes return that they will go Netflix. And ABC can start moving their shows to Disney+. Well, all of them but the Oscars.
