Whether you loved or hated Friends, you have to admit it is a phenomenon. Tonight at 9p on Reelz, we learn more about the sitcom on Friends: Behind Closed Doors. Throughout the two hour episode, we will hear from people who worked on the show, journalistic fans, and the original cast from old interviews. They will tell stories we have never heard, share details that will shock you and answer so many questions you did not know you wanted the answer to.
They will tell us how they cast all six friends. Who auditioned for Monica and Chandler and did not get the role? They wanted Jennifer Aniston for Monica and Courteney Cox for Rachel. Both actresses convinced them to do otherwise. Who came in with an injured nose? Which actress came close to playing Rachel but did not get the part because she was pregnant? Who went up to then-President of the NBC, Warren Littlefield, just before Friends and asked if it is ever going to happen to her? Which actors had other commitments? One was committed to a pilot that did not get picked up. While one of the actresses was on another show at the time and the other network would not let her go. Therefore, NBC screwed with CBS to make sure that show got cancelled. How? You have to watch to find out.
The network thought the cast was too young, so they wanted to add a seventh friend who was older. They thought a cop buddy would help bring in the older audience. The creators did not like that, so they added their parents instead. Which actress started on the show 2 days after giving birth? She literally got home from the hospital with her son and they asked her to be on the set the next day. She was not stupid, she agreed to do it. Lauren Tom, who played Ross’ girlfriend Julie, says the live audience booed her when they filmed her scenes. While she got booed, which scene got the most applauds?
Did you know season 8 was supposed to be its last? What made them agree to do a ninth season? Did you know Matthew Perry and Julia Roberts briefly dated around the time she appeared on the show? What storyline did the cast hate? Hint we hated it too.
These are just a few of the many things you will learn on this special. Fans of the show, and people like me who are so over it, will enjoy it. Whether you watched every episode or if you just heard of it, you will enjoy it because it gives you insight into how a show like this comes about.
A few weeks ago, I asked my friend, who camped out for a few of the Star Wars movies, what movie is going to break more records, Avengers: Endgame or Star Wars: Episode IX. Without hesitation, he said Avengers.
The weekend box office numbers are out now for the Marvel Comics Universe movie, and he was right. It made $350 domestically and $1.2 billion internationally. While that is very impressive, according to Box Office Mojo, it broke 20, yes 2-0, records including largest preview, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and combined weekend totals. The film made an average of $75,075 in 4,662 theaters.
I wonder if Disney wishes this was more like Avengers: Almost Endgame so that they could squeeze out on more sequel.
A lot of people went to see it, some multiple times, and I am not one of them. I still have to watch a bunch of previous movies in order to understand what is going on. Which hopefully by then, the theaters will be nearly empty as compared to being all full now.
Finally, how far does the movie have to go to be the #1 movie of all time domestically and internationally? Star Wars: The Force Awakens made $936,662,225 while Avatar made $2,787,965,087. So next weekend basically.
Sigourney Weaver visiting the NBHS cast and crew at their encore performance of Alien after national media recognition was unbelievable!! #alien#Alien40thpic.twitter.com/2UXL0v1H3X
North Bergen High School got a lot of attention by doing a live stage version of the movie Aliens. So much so they garnered press from all over the World. It was hard to ignore, so even Sigourney Weaver heard about it.
Yesterday, for the movie’s 40th anniversary, they put on a special performance and there was someone very special in the audience. Ellen Ripley herself was watching the show. Then when it was over, she surprised the students. They were more surprised then we were when the alien came out of that guy’s belly. Unlike the guy, who was aliened, they deserved it.
Weaver had a message for the students. To see then, click here!
Santa Clarita Diet was a scrumptious show, but it was not yummy enough for Netflix to order a fourth season. The streaming service cancelled the show that was a different take on the Zombie story. Drew Barrymore ate some bad clams and she became a member of the walking dead. Instead of using her hunger for bad, she ate bad people. Her husband, Timothy Olyphant was very supportive of her in all ways. Except one, and that was become a Zombie too. That is until something happened and she has no choice to get a taste of him and that was the end of the show. In a way it felt like a natural conclusion, and yet I wanted more.
If Netflix keeps cancelling the shows I watch, I can’t justify (no pun) paying the extra dollar. Especially when there are so many options coming out in the next year.
Back in March, Fox announced that they picked up 90210 with most of the original cast members from Beverly Hills, 90210. The only two who were missing were Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry. We know that Dylan will not be in it, but today we found that Brenda is back with her classmates Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling.
Or as I would like to say the bitch is back and now we have a reason to watch the docudrama that is not a reboot. Instead, the actors are playing themselves trying to get a revival made. How they thought they could do that without Doherty is beyond me. She is the most interesting one of them all. Which finally makes the 6-episode event interesting to watch this summer on Fox.
