Rick Springfield gets his 1980’something on for The Goldbergs
August 24th, 2018 under Rick Springfield, The Goldbergs. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’80s, Rick Springfield was all about not talking to strangers, Jessie’s Girl and playing a doctor on General Hospital. You can say he was Hard to Hold.

Now in 2018, he is going back to the ’80s to play the owner of a Karaoke bar on The Goldbergs. The announcement was made yesterday and as soon as the rocker blew out the 69 candles on his birthday cake, he shared a photo from the set.

The ABC sitcom’s costume department did not style him like he styled himself back in the day. Instead he is wearing a leopard print scarf on his head and a brown shiny suit. Which is a good thing because, I am sure, the show did not want him to look like the poster on Erica’s wall. That would be very confusing.

Now back to Erica, I mean Hayley Orrantia and her TV sMother Wendi McLendon-Covey; they both looked thrilled to share the stage with the rock star. Can you blame? He is still groovy to the max even though he is 364 days away from turning 70. On that note, to see him celebrating his birthday on the set, then click here!

Freeform lied to us about making a Young & Hungry finale movie
August 24th, 2018 under Young and Hungry. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBOCPbt5uCc
Back when Freeform announced that Young & Hungry’s 5th season would be its last, they also promised a telemovie to wrap things up. That was then and this is now.

Almost a month after the series finale aired, the show’s star gave us a sad update. Emily Osment wrote, “It breaks my heart to tell you that in addition to @FreeformTV not giving our Young & Hungry audience the ending our show deserved, they have ALSO decided to not go forward with a full length film. From me and my obvious future tv hubby @sadowski23 we love you and we’re sorry.”

Hopefully, Netflix, who streams the series, will give us a movie to resolve the cliffhanger. I want and need to know if Josh said yes to Gabi, if they moved to Seattle and if they will take Yolanda and Elliot with them.

I do not know what has happened to Freeform but ever since they changed their name from ABC Family, they have gone to crap. Who else besides me wants ABC Family back?

The Happytime Murders is the funniest movie of the year
August 24th, 2018 under Joel McHale, Melissa McCarthy, Sesame Street/Muppets. [ Comments: none ]

When I saw the trailer for The Happytime Murders, I watched it in a loop because I could not get enough of it. I was like did I just see a puppet have sex and ejaculate all over the place for what seems like forever. At that moment, I was in love. However, I was a little hesitant that all of the highlarious moments would just be in the trailer. Boy was I wrong, there are several more moments that you can never unsee. Yet, they will make you laugh until you cry. Thus, you are going to run out and want to see the movie that is in theaters now.

For over 30 years, puppets have lived among us, but now they are starting to get their own identities. Phil Phillips (Bill Barretta) is one of them and he was the first and only puppet cop. One day, when he was out on assignment, something goes wrong and he was fired from the force. Now, he works as a private eye.

Sandra White (Dorien Davies) comes to him for help. She hands him a letter full of cut out letters that someone is threatening to expose her secret sexual life. She cannot let this happen to her, so she asks Phil to help her.

His first clue leads him to an adult bookstore that he frequents. He runs into an old friend, Mr. Bumblypants (Kevin Clash), who denies that it is he shopping at the store. However, Phil is not there to catch up, he needs to solve his case. He goes to the back room to get a file. While he is there, everyone in the front is gunned down. Stuffing and more will fly all over the place.

The cops are called in and his old partner, Detective Edwards (Melissa McCarthy) is one of them. The two of them cannot stand each other. Nevertheless, as more murder count starts to go up wherever Phil is at, the two of them realize they are going to have to work together. Because now the case is personal, they killed his brother, Larry (Victor Yerrid) and Phil’s ex-girlfriend, Jenny (Elizabeth Banks). Humans and puppets get it on; do you have a problem with that?

Back to the case, Phil realizes that they all have something in common; they were all on the show Happytime Gang. Why is someone killing everyone off from this beloved show? That is what Phil and Edwards have to find out before they are all past tense.

Thankfully, they will have some help from Lieutenant Banning (Leslie David Baker) and FBI agent Campbell (Joel McHale). Although, the latter one hates puppets especially Phil.

Just when you think you know what is going to happen next, they surprise you. All leading to one hell of an ending to an epic movie that is your new go-to comedy when you need to laugh uncontrollably.

Brian Henson, Jim Henson’s son, directed this movie. His father gave us The Muppets for kids, and his son gives us puppets for adults. Why can’t we have something that our kids cannot have that makes us feel like kids?

As I said, this is not a movie for kids. There is a lot of raunchy humor, but it is not disgusting. I still have images from the movie; I cannot get out of my head. That is not a bad thing because I laugh when I ever I think of some of the things they did in the adult bookstore and many of the other scenes. It is very creative is all I will say.

Well, that and do not listen to the critics who hate this movie. They love Oscar-nominated movies and those put us to sleep. This movie will make you laugh until you pee. Therefore, bring a towel with you.

In addition, make sure to stay through the credits to see some behind the scenes action. Like how the puppets interacted with the humans and that sex scene. The sex one was so wrong, and yet so right.

Just like the title The Happytime Murders, you will leave having had a happy time and a killer one!

Blackish celebrates its 100th episode with an Air Jordan cake
August 24th, 2018 under Anthony Anderson, Jenifer Lewis. [ Comments: none ]

Anthony Anderson’s kicks are as much of a character on Blackish as his role Dre. Therefore, when they show filmed its 100th episode yesterday, they got a cake shaped like an Air Jordan to celebrate.

Deon Cole, Miles Brown, Yara Shahidi, Marcus Scribner, Marsai Martin, Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Laurence Fishburne, Jenifer Lewis, Peter Mackenzie and Jeff Meacham could not wait to cut into that cake. Hopefully, it tastes better than Dre’s sneakers after a game of hoops!

Blackish’s fifth season begins airing on ABC October 16th. The 100th episode will air sometime after that.
