BTWF bands: Katy Perry as Katy Hudson
December 8th, 2009 under Before They Were Famous, Katy Perry. [ Comments: 1 ]

Before Katy Perry kissed a girl, she went by a different last name…Hudson. I never would guessed that 16 year old singer in 2001 is the same Katy Perry we know today. She doesn’t look anything like she used to back when she was sweet 16.

I want you to watch The Sing-Off Monday night on NBC
December 8th, 2009 under NBC. [ Comments: 1 ]

On Monday night at 8p The Sing Off will premiere on NBC. Unlike other singing competitions this one is just about the voices because the 8 competing groups are all performing a cappella. So there will be no music accompaniment, it will just be all about the gift G-d gave them.
The Sing-Off will air on NBC next Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and then the winner will be announced on December 21st. The winning group of the 4 night event gets $100,000 and a Epic Records/Sony Music recording contract. Not a bad prize for them and for us because we get an a cappella album that will be mainstream. Can you tell I love love love a cappella music?
The Sing-Off is hosted by Nick Lachey and the judges are Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman for Boyz II Men and Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls. But the show is not about just them, it is about the groups and one of them has a story that will warm your heart. Face is an a cappella group from Boulder, Co. and they really are a close knit group. When one of the members’ wives was diagnosed with breast cancer and could not have children, one of the other singer’s wives carried the baby for them. How many groups or bands have you ever heard a story like that? I can’t wait to hear them tell that story, but even more I can’t to wait to hear them do there thing!
So make sure tune into NBC on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8p for a singing competition unlike any other we have seen or heard before!!!

This is why Craig Ferguson is the Sexiest Late Night Talk Show Host!
December 8th, 2009 under Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Kimmel, Talk Shows. [ Comments: 2 ]

Marie Claire is holding a poll for “Which Late-Night Talk Show Host Would You Sleep With?” and Craig Ferguson is ahead by a lot of notches on the bed post. The CBS host is popular as Tiger Woods according to the people voting and at the end of The Late Late Show he showed us why is on top! Sadly though he was at 74% before he gave us his sexiest moves and now he is down to 68%. Personally I thought he looked really sexy when he got close to the camera and the lights weren’t shining on his face and his salt and pepper hair was all messy and his shirt was all open like that, oh I got to go vote for him again because he so deserves it after that. Too bad I didn’t watch the show live because I would’ve had some really nice dreams about him after that! So What Did I Learn on the Show Tonight is that Craig Ferguson is the sexiest late night host!!!
Now let’s go over the rest of the list. Are the 34 votes for David Letterman all of his past interns? Too soon? Who is voting for the firecrotch Conan O’Brien, he is too pale skinned to picture in a dark room naked…you know because his skin would illuminate the room. I would be afraid of Jay Leno in bed because I can’t picture any position where his chin didn’t get in the way? Jon Stewart is cute, but he doesn’t do anything for me. Now Stephen Colbert should be much higher on the list, remember those pictures of him in a tight body suit? He is a big big big boy!!! I think I will have to vote for him now that I thought about those pictures. On that note, who is voting for Jimmy Fallon, he is the opposite of Colbert as you will see in the video below from his Late Night show. Now lastly, why isn’t anyone voting for poor Jimmy Kimmel? C’mon he is sexy? In his own special way!
Below is the list on how everyone is doing on the Marie Claire poll. So now that you know how your favorite late night talk show host is doing, who are you voting for and why?

Jay Leno 1% (36 Votes)
Carson Daly 1% (32 Votes)
Craig Ferguson 68% (2697 Votes)
Jimmy Fallon 6% (234 Votes)
David Letterman 1% (34 Votes)
Jon Stewart 6% (246 Votes)
Stephen Colbert 3% (120 Votes)
Jimmy Kimmel 1% (35 Votes)
Conan O’Brien 13% (506 Votes)

Seriously after watching the below video, can you tell me who is voting for Jimmy Fallon? Seriously that whole bit was a huge turnoff for me.

UPDATE: Craig Ferguson will be talking about the poll tonight on the Late Late Show on CBS at 12:35a and I hear is really enjoying it! He should be loving because he is royally kicking ass in the poll, he is now at 71% and his next competitor Conan O’Brien (why?) is at 12%. Go Craig!!!

RIP As The World Turns
December 8th, 2009 under TV Soaps. [ Comments: none ]

The world will no longer be turning for the CBS soap, As The World Turns after September of 2010. The show that has been on the air for 54 years was given 9 months to say goodbye today. Although the news is very sad that another soap, one of the last two to be based in NY, will be going off the air, the news was not unexpected. Rumors had been around since Guiding Light went dark that ATWT was next. I guess sadly the game show Let’s Make a Deal did well enough that CBS thought it could live without another soap.
Here is a little history about the show, “Created by Irna Phillips, As The World Turns premiered on April 2, 1956 as a 30-minute live television show, unprecedented at the time for a soap opera. Top-rated from 1959 to 1971, it was the first daytime serial with its own spin-off, Our Private World, which aired in prime-time. The show switched to color on 1967, and expanded from a half-hour in length to one hour in 1975. Over the years, ATWT has been awarded numerous accolades, including 58 Daytime Emmy awards.”
I know I am repeating myself, but this is really sad news. With this show ending its run it means that ABC’s One Life to Live will be the only daytime drama still taping in NY (and rumor has it they might be next to get the ax) and that the only CBS soaps left are The Young and the Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful. To think 6 months ago CBS had 3 and half hours of soap operas on their air and in 9 months they will only have 90 minutes really saddens me.
When it comes to As The World Turns, I used to watch it but for some reason I gave it up. Even though I no longer watch it, I still feel as though something good will be missing from my TV. Thanks for everything As The World Turns, I will make sure to watch you a few times over the next nine months.
xoxo Michael!!!

UPDATE: Here is is CBS’s mea culpa about cancelling As The World Turns:
“It’s extremely difficult to say good-bye to a long-running series that’s been close to our hearts for so long,” said Barbara Bloom, Senior Vice President, Daytime Programming. “The almanacs will show AS THE WORLD TURNS as a pioneer of the format, a hallmark for quality with its numerous Emmy’s, the launching pad for many television and film stars and a daytime ratings powerhouse for parts of three decades. But, the true legacy of AS THE WORLD TURNS will be the fictional characters and stories of a small Midwest town that resonated every day with millions of viewers over multiple generations, becoming a treasured daytime institution in the process. We thank our partners at Procter & Gamble for the privilege of hosting this beloved series…the actors, writers, producers and crew who worked so hard and shared their amazing talents to bring this series to life…and, of course, the viewers who shared the journey on our network for so many years.”

Ashlee Simpson & Colin Egglesfield move out Melrose Place tonight
December 8th, 2009 under Beverly Hills 90210 / Melrose Place. [ Comments: 1 ]

Tonight is the night that Ashlee Simpson & Colin Egglesfield move out of The CW’s Melrose Place and we find out who killed Sydney. So after a season of hints who do you think killed the woman that was revived for the remake? For some reason I have a feeling it might be either Auggie or Violet? Granted it could be because both of them are leaving the show tonight. so I am going with the obvious.
Tune into Melrose Place on The CW tonight at 9p to see who killed Sydney and to suffer through Ashlee Simpson’s acting one last time. Thankfully that pain is ending tonight!

UPDATE: Although initial reports said they were leaving in episode 12, just heard that they will be in one more episode in January. I knew it was too good to be true that we would get rid of Ashlee before the New Year.
