Queen of pop Madonna is reportedly planning her first stint as a film director. Madge is hoping to follow in the footsteps of her director husband with a new film called ‘Blade To The Heart’. The film will tell the real life story of boxing rivals Emile Griffith and Benny ‘Kid’ Paret; Paret died in 1962 after a fight with Griffith. Madge’s company Maverick Entertainment is reportedly behind the film and it’s thought that she will step behind the camera and direct the feature length film.

I just hope it is better than Swept Away, but that is not saying much since that was one of the worst movies ever.

The Oscars do away with Gift Baskets
December 20th, 2006 under Oscars. [ Comments: none ]

Academy Awards Bosses Ditch Gift Baskets. Hollywood celebrities will leave the 2007 Oscars without the lavish gift baskets they have been presented with in previous years. The decision comes after The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences and the US Inland Revenue Service (IRS) agreed to send tax forms to all those who received the free gifts, worth around $100,000 (£51,000), at the 2006 ceremony. IRS Commissioner MARK EVERSON says, "Whether you’re popping the popcorn, sitting in the audience or starring on the big screen, you need to pay your taxes. "There’s no red carpet loophole for the stars." Actor EDWARD NORTON recently expressed how appalled he is by the freebies celebrities pick up at top awards shows.

Female First

I wonder if they are going to protest this? Will this be the new trend? I know there are celebs who will only go to an event if they will get a Gift Basket. How sad is that?

Smokin’ Aces trailer too graphic for TV?
December 20th, 2006 under Ryan Reynolds. [ Comments: none ]

SINGER Alicia Keys’s first big film is so steamy, even the trailer was banned from TV. The 25-year-old is starring alongside Ben Affleck in the sexy shoot-’em-up Smokin’ Aces, which hits cinemas on January 12. We’re told: “The ad is graphic but so is the film!”
3AM Girls

Did Britney and Paris breakup over JR Rotem?
December 20th, 2006 under Britney Spears/KFed, Paris Hilton. [ Comments: none ]

Was Britney Spears fooling around on Kevin Federline before the two split? And did Spears’s friendship with Paris Hilton cool because of the man in question? Spears is dating J.R. Rotem, a friend of K-Fed’s who produced several songs on his debut CD and who is working with Spears on her comeback album, according to several reports. But sources tell Star magazine that some of Spears’s friends were convinced that hanky panky was going on between the two before Spears filed for divorce from her husband. Another source, however, says while there was “definite chemistry” Spears and Rotem waited until she filed papers But there’s also buzz that Britney’s former best friend Paris Hilton also dated Rotem — and when Spears found out, her friendship with Hilton soured. Rotem also worked with Hilton on her debut CD, and the two dated briefly. “It was nothing serious, just a few hookups,” a source told Star. “I bet a million dollars that J.R. tired to keep that a secret from Britney,” adds the source. “Britney would probably flip out if she knew that he’d romanced Paris first.” Meanwhile, the situation between Spears and Federline continues to deteriorate. A recent phone call between the two turned ugly, reports In Touch Weekly, when Spears asked her soon-to-be-ex-hubby if he’d seen pics of her smooching Rotem. “It was really bad,” an “eyewitness source” told the mag, adding that Spears also started bragging to her ex about some sex she’d had. Federline was furious, although he reportedly isn’t quite sure whether he believes that she’s been dating. “[Spears] just started pushing his buttons. … He started screaming at her.” Spears is reportedly also taunting Federline about no longer living the lavish life they shared, but sources say that he continues to gather info on her hard partying to use in the custody battle against her.

Scoop

I understand that he is a great music producer and all, but ewwwww. I doubt he came between them, but you never know?

The BBC is looking for the next Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!!!
December 19th, 2006 under Andrew Lloyd Webber, Graham Norton, Reality International, Stage. [ Comments: none ]

The BBC has announced its follow-up to How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? – the TV search for a lead for Joseph And His Amazing Techicolor Dreamcoat. The new show follows Connie Fisher’s success in The Sound Of Music, after she was plucked from obscurity to play the role of Maria. Graham Norton will host the BBC One search for a new Joseph for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stage production. Lord Lloyd-Webber, a panel of experts and viewers will also look for a girl to play the narrator figure and a Pharoah/Elvis in the TV show. The TV search is entitled Any Dream Will Do, after one of the famous musical numbers in the production. BBC One Controller Peter Fincham said: "Any Dream Will Do is the perfect follow-up to the success of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? "Joseph And His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a classic musical known to generations of schoolchildren and I cannot wait for the reunion of 2006’s most unlikely but successful partnership – Graham Norton and Andrew Lloyd Webber. "I think this show will have huge appeal for the BBC One audience." Lord Lloyd-Webber said: "The success of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? this summer was a real boost for musical theatre in Britain and I was particularly thrilled with the reaction from schoolchildren up and down the country. I cannot wait to get them involved in Any Dream Will Do and to get back into the studio with Graham. "Joseph started in schools and I am looking for a great school choir – to play in the West End, we need a smashing girl, a great boy and of course a Pharoah/Elvis." Auditions for contestants will take place across the UK early next year before the show is broadcast in the summer.

The Press Association

This is one of my favorite Broadway musicals, so I wish I could see this show. Hopefully they will have guest appearances from past Josephs like Michael Damian and Donny Osmond!!!
