George Michael back on tour |
September 25th, 2006 under George Michael. [ Comments: none ]

A mature, modest and (almost) scandal-free George Michael took the stage in his first solo concert in 15 years. But the pop star couldn’t resist making another controversial dig at George Bush. At the end of the first set Michael sang his 2002 controversial anti-Bush song "Shoot the Dog." During the number, an enormous balloon depicting a cartoon-ish George Bush rose out of centre stage, drawing whoops and yells from the crowd. But the real surprise came when Michael leaned down to unzip the balloon’s trousers, and out popped a British bulldog draped with the UK flag. The dog was stuck to the balloon’s inflated crotch, wagging its tail. George Michael sang his greatest hits to 18,000 fans packed into Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi arena at the start of his new European tour. With no new album to promote, the concert indulged an audience of mostly long-time fans with favorites like "Faith," "Father Figure" and "Too Funky," while also including newer hits. In February 2005 Michael announced the end of his pop career to the international media, and the irony that less than two years later he’s here back on the stage, singing all his pop standards once again, was not lost on him. The fans, however, aren’t holding any grudges for what Michael has dubbed his "being such a tease." They clapped, cheered, swayed and sang their way through two-and-a-half-hours of ballads, covers and dance tunes. The early part of the show suffered from a few low moments when it seemed as though Michael’s slow clapping and side-to-side sway-and-shuffle style of dancing weren’t going to be enough to keep the crowd engaged throughout the night. But after a few songs the singer seemed to warm up to his audience, dominating the stage and obviously happy to be performing again. "Its coming back, its coming right back," he called out to the crowd just before launching into the unexpected second sing-through of "Too Funky", a technical glitch Michael handled with ease. "Well just go along with this," he said as both he and the audience began to sing the familiar lyrics for the second time in a night.
This is London
I just wish the tour was coming to the states. I would love to hear him do some Wham! songs finally!

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that one of David Hasselhoff’s daughters tried to commit suicide Sunday night. It happened in the San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles, at around 6:30 p.m. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ David call 911 from his home and reported that his 14-year-old daughter had "cut herself."’ David Hasselhoff and estranged wife Pamela Bach have been going through a bitter divorce and custody fight. Hasselhoff had been accused of brutalizing Pam, restraining orders were issued, but many of the issues seem to have been resolved. In court documents obtained by TMZ from December 2005, Pamela Bach alleged then that Hasselhoff "grabbed me and pushed me hard into a car." She added: "In the past, he has also broken my nose and called me ‘whore,’ ‘c**t,’ ‘bitch,’ ’slut’ and ‘drug addict’ in front of our children." Bach also said that Hasselhoff told her that "he was going to break through my security gate, drive his car through the house, beat the door down and go into the house and take my(sic) all of my jewelry and sell it." Hasselhoff has denied all the allegations. We’re told the LAPD responded and 14-year-old Hayley Hasselhoff was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition is not being disclosed. The Mental Evaluation Unit of LAPD is now handling the case.

No one bids on Paula Abdul |
September 24th, 2006 under American Idol 1-5, Paula Abdul. [ Comments: none ]

Yikes. Not a single bidder on the ebay auction that offered first class airfare for two, an appointment with a Beverly Hills stylist, shopping on Rodeo and the chance to hang with Paula Abdul. All proceeds for the auction would have gone to the MS Foundation but perhaps the $25,000 US price tag was a little steep? The auction ended over 4 hours ago without a bite.

Is it wrong of me to get some pleasure out of that? he he

Heather Mills really did a number on Paul McCartney |
September 24th, 2006 under Paul McCartney/Heather Mills. [ Comments: none ]

DISTRAUGHT Sir Paul McCartney has spoken for the first time about his split from wife Heather Mills and admitted: "I don’t know how to deal with it." The former Beatle confessed he is struggling to come to terms with the break-up of their four-year marriage. Macca, 64, said: "It’s been the most terrible time for me and my family. Having to come to terms with this, it’s been horrible, so horrible." Macca and Heather, 38, who have a daughter, Beatrice, two, are facing a bitter divorce. He opened his heart on Saturday night at an exclusive bash in London thrown by daughter Stella’s husband Alasdhair Willis. Shaking his head and looking distressed, Macca told a fellow guest: "Of course it’s bad. The whole thing has been horrible for me. Advertisement "I don’t know how to deal with it all. I just cannot talk about it." Partygoers at the Established & Sons bash were shocked to witness his emotional state. One revealed: "Someone went up to him and started chatting and he seemed friendly and together. "He was explaining that he couldn’t pick up his GQ man of the year award last month because he’d flown in from the States that day and was very tired. "But as soon as the subject of Heather came up his demeanour totally changed. "He started shaking and there were tears welling up in his eyes. It was really sad to see – you can tell he really thought their marriage would be for life and he’s obviously in bits about the separation."
The Daily Record
I feel so bad for him, you can tell he really loved her. Shame he did not realize, before they got married, that she only loved his money and fame.
