Imagine you are in 30 Rock, you are taking the elevator, all of a sudden the elevator doors open up, and Paul McCartney is standing there. What would you do?
Several visitors of the NBC building did not have to imagine (I know that is a John Lennon song) that because that is what happened. Jimmy Fallon decided to prank them with the legendary Beatles singer, and they loved it. How could they not? Who doesn’t love Macca?
BTW I love that the lift people gave out a small scream when they saw the Tonight Show host, and a much larger one when they saw McCartney. Granted, they would expect to see Fallon, that other guy not so much.
On May 2nd, Olivia Rodrigo will host for the first time and be a performer for a third time.
The following week, Matt Damon returns to host for his charm time with Noah Kahan, who is getting a second chance.
Finally, on May 16th, SNL ends the season with a familiar face, Will Ferrell, who goes from Not Ready for Primetime Player to host for a sixth time. But the bigger name who will be tickling the ivories is Paul McCartney. This is his fifth time. The Beatles’ singer will be rockin’ the stage!
The first time he appeared on the variety show was May 17th 1980. Fun fact: Rodrigo was not born until 2023. That was 23 years before she was born and 23 years after she entered the world. On a happier note, Kahan made his debut in 1997. Together, the younger singers’ ages add up to 52. Macca is 83, so he is 31 years old that their ages combined, and older their singular ages. And that is why we still love him even after he turned 64.
We know that Paul McCartney is a Beatle. And we know that The Beatles and The Monkees were friends in the late ’60s.
However, did you know that Macca sings The Monkees TV theme song as he walks onto the stage before a concert?
Well, he does. His daughter recorded him walking out to the final show on this tour at O2 in London, singing the tune with his bandmates. And I love it!
Beyoncé brought her tour to London, and Sir Paul McCartney came out to hear her sing. So does that mean she is bigger than The Beatles? Because one of them went to her concert.
But then again, none of us have been able to go to a Beatles show since 1980. And if John Lennon were still alive, I am sure she and Jay-Z would be hanging with him in NYC. Imagine that.
Now back to Sir Paul. His youthful excitement to play with the cameras is we still love him and need him at 80 like we did when he was 64!

Paul McCartney posted the above photo and wrote, “Have a really wonderful Christmastime.” Because of that, I have his Christmas Carol stuck in my head. Since I don’t believe in suffering alone, my wish is that you are suffering with me.
