DJ Fatboy Slim has traveled to West Africa to help thousands of AIDS orphans through sports. The hitmaker, real name Norman Cook, is part of the Coaching for Hope charity, which is currently using soccer to educate the children of Mali, who have lost their parents to the killer virus. And Cook is adamant the six-day experience earlier this month totally transformed his outlook on life. He says, "Coming here has been a life-changing experience. To see so many young children with no parents is something I will never forget. It makes you realise how we take what we’ve got for granted."

Roman Polanski to act in Rush Hour 3 |

Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski rarely acts anymore, but he’s agreed to appear in Brett Ratner’s "Rush Hour 3." On Friday, a wave of speculation poured over the Internet about this as a possibility, but I can confirm it for you. Polanski’s most famous acting job was in his own movie "Chinatown" some 32 years ago (he’s the guy who slits open Jack Nicholson ’s nose). In "Rush Hour 3," Polanski will play a French cop who gives stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker a tough time. Ratner has scored a coup in getting Polanski as well as actors Max von Sydow and Yvan Attal . "I met him when I did the first ‘Rush Hour,’" Ratner said of Polanski. "My favorite movie is ‘The Tenant,’ which he starred in. Since we’re shooting in Paris, it made sense." Of course, Polanski won’t be able to do any publicity for this role when "Rush Hour 3" is released next year. He’s still considered a fugitive after having sex with a 13-year-old girl in Malibu back in 1977. He left the U.S. and never returned rather than face a prison sentence. When his acclaimed movie "The Pianist" opened four years ago, that girl, now a grown woman, attempted to absolve Polanski of any crime. Samantha Geimer wrote an op-ed piece in the Los Angeles Times and did interviews with at least two syndicated TV shows. She e-mailed this column several times as well. Even though the Web site thesmokinggun.com published the findings of the 1977 grand jury that handled the case, the publicist for Focus Films blamed this column for uncovering Geimer.

I think it is such BS that he is not allowed back in the country. There are people that walk around America who committed worse crimes, you know like the people who bruatally killed his pregnant wife and their friends.

PETA fights for the roaches too |

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants Six Flags Great America to scrap its Halloween-themed cockroach-eating promotion. A spokeswoman for the animal rights organization says the contest at the amusement park’s FrightFest is "gratuitously cruel." The park in Gurnee, Ill., is joining other Six Flags parks in offering unlimited line-jumping privileges to anyone who eats a live Madagascar hissing cockroach. The bugs are up to three inches long. The contest begins next month. Amusement park officials are defending their menu choice. Great America spokesman Jim Taylor says the bugs are nutritious, high in protein and fat free.

Tonight was a blast!
This was the first show that all the IDOLs watched together backstage since the beginning of the tour…We had so many jokes on stage, you never knew what to expect. It was so much fun being able to share this evening with my parents, my brother Ryan, Elvio, and all my new friends from this AI experience.
I sang happy birthday to my mom during the show…I knew it would be less emotional if I had everyone sing it, but it would mean the world to her if I sang it so that’s what I did…and I had to step away from the mic towards the end when I looked in my parents eyes and saw them overjoyed … It’s great to see a LIFE reminder so powerful, you know you’re on the right path.
I hung out signing autographs twice before the show and another time after…I had so much fun seeing everyone close up and being able to talk one on one.
After the show, Chris and I hooked up with Taylor’s band LMBO. When we first walked in, the security guards forced us to leave the blocked out area next to the stage because they weren’t comfortable with all the attention…After telling them that everything was fine they let Chris and I come back in, only to sing something on stage. So Chris and I sang "DREAM ON" by Aerosmith. We really wanted to rock out one more time together before our lives became really busy. Being able to share that moment with Chris and all of you that were there meant the world to me! I will remember this night forever… Right after we finished singing, security pulled us right back out of the room. When we were leaving, we weren’t allowed to hangout…I gave as many hugs as they allowed, then said goodbye to my parents (they had to go back to NY to fly home).
All in all, it was a great day! And best of all I got to spend it with some amazing people. You guys ROCK!!! Thank you so much.
My next steps are going to be big ones…and I’ll need your help..I promise that you’ll be the first to know!
SCATTERED should hit the radio and ITunes in 7 to 10 days!!!!!
To the best fans in the world…
much love,
ACE
so it begins

Steven Tyler has Hep-C |

Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler has been secretly battling hepatitis C — a serious viral infection of the blood, often associated with dirty needles, that can lead to chronic liver disease. But the 58-year-old recovering drug addict tells "Access Hollywood’s" Nancy O’Dell that after a year of interferon treatments, "It is nonexistent in my bloodstream … where it’s like a complete cure." In an interview airing tomorrow night, Tyler says he was diagnosed three years ago but "I’ve had hepatitis C for a long time, asymptomatic. "I’ve been pretty quiet about this," he says. "The band took a break about three years ago. … [My doctor] said now is the time, and it’s 11 months of chemotherapy" — actually, interferon, which strengthens the immune system — "so I went on that, and it about killed me." Tyler — who’s on tour with Mötley Crüe and will be featured tonight as a hard-partying neighbor on the CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men" — continues: "You know, it really hurt. It was a bad, bad period. I’m in AA, and I tried to go three, four, five months with nothing, and it about killed me." Tyler’s marriage to clothing designer Teresa Barrick was falling apart at the time of his treatments, and they were divorced earlier this year. "I had a little problem at home, to say the least," he says, "and I would run upstairs at night, you know, to put the kids asleep and wake up at 3 in the morning with a nosebleed — you know, just passed out from the interferon, the treatment. It’s a shot and pills and all of that. But the good news is I stood the test of time." About 4.5 million Americans suffer from hepatitis C, which is hard to detect but can cause scarring of the liver and lead to cirrhosis. In 2002, Pamela Anderson announced that she, too, has the disease. "Hepatitis C is the one that, of all the people in this room, at least three have it and don’t know it," Tyler says. "It’s the silent killer. I may go on ‘Oprah’ and talk about this. I hope you don’t mind me mentioning that."
