The Superman franchise has always been plagued by bad luck and the latest installment, Superman Returns, is no exception, according to Premiere magazine. Producer Rob Burnett was mugged by four guys who broke his ribs, giving him a concussion and a black eye. Editor Adam Robitel fell through a closed window and was impaled by a glass shard that punctured his lung and injured his spine. Associate producer and cameraman Todd Stanley fell down a flight of stairs, fracturing his skull and tearing his pinkie finger so badly it had to be partially amputated. The man in blue tights has been rumored to be cursed since TV Superman George Reeves was found dead of a single gunshot wound. The big screen’s most famous Superman, Christopher Reeve, suffered a paralyzing horseback riding accident and Margot Kidder, who played Lois Lane, suffered a nervous breakdown. Superman III star Richard Pryor was stricken with multiple sclerosis. Lane Smith, who played Clark Kent and Lois Lane’s boss, Perry White, on the Lois & Clark television series, was diagnosed with the rare Lou Gehrig’s Disease in April 2005 and died of the disease two months later. Is Superman Returns star Brandon Routh worried? “To this, I say, ‘What curse?’ ” he says. “I don’t think in those terms. I have control over what I do. If something happens to me, I’ll deal with it. I’m not going to worry about it.”

How does the paparazzi like being filmed? |

The paparazzo arrested yesterday at a day care center attended by Maddox Jolie-Pitt tells TMZ that he did not trespass on the grounds of the center nor did he jump any fences surrounding the facility, and that the police "wanted to make an example out of someone."
Hordes of celebrity photographers and videographers have been staking out the Jolie-Pitt compound, its surroundings, and its residents ceaselessly since the couple returned from Namibia with baby Shiloh Nouvel. Brad Pitt’s security chief, Rich Malchar, issued this statement yesterday: "School officials and myself feel that some of these paparazzi are like predators who will recklessly take and sell photos of innocent children for money."The actual incident for which Brewer was arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff is still somewhat unclear, as it was reported yesterday that the lensman jumped a fence at the day care center, and then that he was hiding in bushes at the facility trying to take pictures of young Maddox when he was apprehended by the a member of the day care’s staff.
Brewer claims that there is no fence at the day care- at all- and that he didn’t take any pictures of Maddox, the proof of which is in the camera that the police confiscated.
Brewer says he was driving up the Pacific Coast Highway to the Jolie-Pitt residence in Malibu when he saw the family going towards the day care center, at which point he followed them and "went to have a look but didn’t see anything."
The Jolie-Pitt security asked him to stop shooting, and called the police, who, according to Brewer, "turned up and wanted to make an example out of someone and has [sic]," after which they took him to the station for booking.
Before TMZ spoke to Brewer, he walked out of the police station with his shirt covering his face- classic photo-avoidance maneuver- an ironic pose for someone whose livelihood is earned on the other side of the lens.

McPhee = McPriss |

"American Idol" runnerup Katharine McPhee managed to project a sweet and sunny personality on the show.
But off camera, the 22-year-old Californian can be "sullen and miserable," according to a Lowdown spy who attended McPhee’s personal appearance in Brooklyn for the christening of the ocean liner Crown Princess.
"She was nasty," reports the spy. "Katharine was cranky and in a foul mood. When a reporter asked her about those rumors that she was invited to sing at Tom Cruise’s wedding and that John Mayer asked her out, she freaked out and said, ‘Why are you asking such stupid questions?’" The spy added, "She’s a diva after two weeks of fame."
McPhee – whose first single is being released next Tuesday – was better behaved during a confessional interview with People magazine, in which she opened up about her five-year bout with bulimia. "I was binging my whole life away for days at a time," she confided.
Lowdown’s calls to her PR rep were not returned.

DEMI MOORE is considering having a child with husband ASHTON KUTCHER, insisting she isn’t too old at 43. Kutcher recently revealed the pair wanted to follow in the footsteps of ANGELINA JOLIE and SHARON STONE and adopt. But Moore – already a mum of three from her marriage to BRUCE WILLIS – insists she isn’t too old to conceive another child of her own. She says, "I still might. GEENA DAVIS had her first when she was 46. I’m not saying I will but I don’t rule out anything in my life. "I view my life as DEMI MOORE is prepared to undergo more cosmetic surgery in a bid to preserve her beauty. The 43-year-old has already undergone breast enlargement and is happy to have more procedures. She says, "I have no problems with enhancing one’s looks or fixing something that’s changed. "I don’t see me getting oodles of stuff done, but for some things it’s a godsend. After three kids, gravity takes its toll and everything heads south, so it’s an option."being able to have and do everything and anything."

DEPECHE MODE rocker MARTIN GORE was once left speechless after a fan presented each member of the group with a specially made band ‘Bible’. The PERSONAL JESUS musician cites the religious piece of art as the strangest gift ever given to the British stars. He tells London magazine Time Out, "All of us were each given a Depeche Mode ‘Bible’ once. This is going back a bit, so it had four testaments: of DAVE (GAHAN), ANDREW (FLETCHER), ALAN (WILDER) and Martin. "But the whole thing was really well done. It had a metal cover, and was quite thick; there were lots of pictures in it… it was very Biblical-like."
