Although the new dance musical Hot Feet has yet to announce a closing date at the Hilton Theatre, a holiday engagement of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! — The Musical has been booked into the theatre.
Variety reports that previews for Grinch will begin Oct. 25 with an official opening on Nov. 8. The limited engagement will play through Jan. 7, 2007. Grinch, which debuted in 1998 at the Old Globe Theatre, was originally directed by Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien and played annually at the San Diego venue. Matt August will stage the Broadway run with choreography by John DeLuca.
Grinch will offer 12 performances a week. The industry paper says a special agreement was made with the unions for this non-traditional schedule. Broadway shows play, at most, eight performances a week. Grinch will perform eight shows on weekends alone.

GUNS N’ ROSES frontman AXL ROSE has been arrested in Stockholm after reportedly biting a security guard on the leg. The singer, who was performing in the Swedish capital last night (26JUN06), allegedly engaged in a drunken brawl with an unknown woman. A 30-year-old security guard, who tried to break up the fight, was bitten on the leg by the PARADISE CITY rocker and taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation in the early hours of this morning (27JUN06). Police spokesman LARS-ERIK LARSSON confirms, "He has been taken into custody, but I can’t comment on anything more than that." Rose faces charges of damaging property, assault and threatening police. Police officer TOVE HAGG tells Swedish newspaper The Local, "We have a rock star, but we won’t confirm the name yet. "I’m not sure if he was taken away in handcuffs, but he is in the drunk cell and we are waiting for him to sober up before we talk to him." Guns N’ Roses are scheduled to play in Oslo, Norway, tomorrow (28JUN06) and in Denmark on Thursday (29JUN06).

Dixie Chicks vs Reba |

LATEST:Country star REBA MCENTIRE has weighed in against the DIXIE CHICKS again, after they criticised fans of her music. The pair first came to blows after the group criticised US President GEORGE W BUSH’s – a close friend of Republican MCEntire – decision to go to war in Iraq. Although they later apologised, singer MARTIE MAGUIRE recently took back the apology and claimed the furore had helped them connect with their audience, adding an attack on MCEntire: "I’d rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc (CD) changer with Reba MCEntire and Toby Keith. We don’t want those kind of fans. They limit what you can do." MCEntire is furious. She’s quoted in the New York Daily News, saying, "(I’m) very disappointed. I’ve never turned my back on country music. "So when somebody talks bad about my music, my family, that does not set well with me. And when you bite the hand that feeds you, I just don’t think that’s very nice."

Dreyfuss comes clean on The Producers departure |

Veteran actor RICHARD DREYFUSS has finally broken his silence over his departure from the London production of THE PRODUCERS, admitting he was fired from the West End musical. Dreyfuss "withdrew" from the show in October 2004, claiming pain from back and shoulder injuries had made it impossible for him to play MAX BIALYSTOCK. Rumours at the time suggested Dreyfuss had been sacked because he "wasn’t ready or funny enough" during rehearsal, but the show’s producers refused to comment. However, the JAWS star, 59, has finally admitted he didn’t choose to leave the production himself. He says, "I got fired. I couldn’t physically do it."
