Yesterday, The Cosby Show’s Geoffrey Owens broke his silence on Good Morning America about working at Trader Joe’s to make ends meet between acting jobs. Shortly after his interview aired, Tyler Perry offered him a job on his OWN show The Haves and Have Nots.
Today, GMA gave us an update and Owens is flying down to Atlanta to appear on the drama. Something that I am sure will make the head of the Oprah Winfrey Network very happy. That is because this is so up her alley.
Congrats to Geoffrey Owens! Personally, I am surprised that he is not doing with Dancing with the Stars. But this offer is so much better. The first of many of offers that will come his way.
Al Roker is going from weatherman to Waitress. As in he is going to play Joe in Waitress on Broadway from October 5th to November 11th.
Wait can he sing? He gave us a little taste on Today today. Now I ask, can Broadway weather Al Roker? Worse singers have performed in musicals on the Great White Way. I just cannot think of anyone now, but I am sure there have been a few who have stepped in to do Grease, Cabaret and Chicago over the years.
How did this all come about? They asked him and he said yes. Who will regret this decision first? Only time will tell.
When you work in local news, you sometimes get assigned to do an exciting story. That is what Q13’s Ellen Tailor thought at first when they told her to go cover the King County Fair in Enumclaw, Washington. Then when she got there, they told her she was doing the Super Shot. She was all in until she found out there no alcohol was involved.
Instead, it is a big scary ride that takes you up really high and then drops 120 feet. How did she do? She let out a scream that pierced all of our eardrums and then revealed that was not the only thing she let out. She also came close to wetting her pants. And with that, I cannot wait to try that ride. It got the pee pee stamp of approval!
Therefore, she also gave us a little warning. Make sure to use the bathroom before you go on that ride because you don’t want to lose it while you are losing your cool. You know what I mean. That and pray the people who went before you did the same thing. You don’t want to sit on a wet seat because you know that it is not Mountain Dew that made your butt all warm and tingly.
Last week, there were rumors that Paula Farris left The View and looks like she is not the only one. Page Six is reporting that Sara Haines is giving up the talk show to host the third hour of Good Morning America with Michael Strahan at 1p that debuts in September.
Haines joined ABC in 2013 and The View in 2016 after several guest appearances.
Haines departure leaves Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Meghan McCain on the panel and I think that is just enough screaming head at the table. What about you?
UPDATE: GMA made the new official today. Haines wrote on social media, “Ahhhhhhhh!! Not even sure I can find the words to adequately express how excited I am to sit next to @michaelstrahan as we embark on this new journey at @GMA #GMADay…it is (and has been) a dream of mine for a LONG time. It’s bittersweet though as I leave @theviewabc, a place I have called home for the past couple years. A huge thank you to all the viewers and fans who have followed me along the way. I LOVE my View family, but don’t worry, my brand new *view* is literally down the street.”

Did you know that there is a daytime talk show on ABC called The Chew and it has been on for 7 years? Turns out there was one. I say was, because today it got cancelled to make room for a third hour of Good Morning America at 1p.
I think they are going to have to dump the word morning from the title since it is on in the afternoon. That is just one of the things we will be waiting to find out before the show debuts in September. The other thing they are still deciding on is who will host it. I betcha a penny Michael Strahan gets that hour along with someone new.
One thing ABC won’t be answering is who asked for it and why it’s airing 4 hours after GMA goes off the air for the day. Do we really want to have a cheesy news program with our lunches? I do not think so. What we need is a new soap opera, something they got rid of to make room for The Chew. Which they finally cancelled.
