Today is Whoopi Goldberg’s 69th birthday, and she made a joke on The View about half of 69.
She was given a wheel of cheese with her face on it. Her co-host, Sarah Haines, said, “I always wanted my face on cheese.”
Then the birthday girl replied with, “I’d like to be eaten from time to time.”
With that, Haines walked away from Whoopi, and half the audience laughed while the other half didn’t know how to react. Even Goldberg was left speechless!
All I will say is that I wish she said more things like that because we need to liven up morning television! And that definitely woke things up!
Every Halloween, the morning talk shows go all out for the holiday. However, this year, The View is taking the day off because there is something much scarier happening on November 5th.
According to TV Line, producer Brian Teta told listeners on Behind the Table, “I’m going to announce something today that’s going to upset a portion of the audience, but I think it’s going to make you (Joy) happy. This year, because it’s only a few days before the election and we need to be live, the hosts are not going to dress up for Halloween.”
And there is one host who is happy about that. Can you guess who? Joy Behar, who finds the tradition annoying. Who knew she was such a witch?
Joy Behar’s birthday is October 7th. However, they celebrated it today on The View—what a view it was!
Nathan Lane appeared on the talk show to talk about his show Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Since he has known Behar for a while, he brought a present for her.
The Tony winner knows the Italian host loves pizza, so he ordered a special pizza for her. What was so special about it? The sausage. As in, the pizza delevery boy is a stripper and shows off his sausage to the ladies!
The almost 82-year-old birthday girl liked the extra cheese that came with him, although she was a little disappointed that there was no pizza. You just don’t mess with NY women and their pizzas. Believe me, I know!
Alyssa Farah Griffin was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen yesterday. One of the show’s fans wanted to know, “What was the wildest thing that you still cannot believe came across your desk when you were special assistant to Trump in the White House?”
I was kind of afraid of her answer because you never know what lunacy was going on in his head. However, it wasn’t as scary as I thought. What is it? “One day, he wanted to have Kanye West come and do a church service on the White House lawn to unify the country.”
Thankfully, they talked him out of it because that would have brought a whole new level of insanity to the 1600 Penn. And that was tough to do between the years of 2017-2021.
We know Whoopi Goldberg as that. However, that was not her original stage name. She originally wanted to go by Whoopi Cushiôn.
Yesterday, she told Seth Meyers on his show, Late Night, how she got the last name Goldberg. When the actress told her mom her stage name, she asked her daughter are you crazy. Then her mom explained to her, “You’re diminishing your abilities. And if you call yourself Whoopi Cushiôn, people are not going to appreciate what you can do.”
With that, Whoopi asked her mom what name she should use. Her mom said that Goldberg is a family name, and she likes it. And the rest is Hollywood history.
How did Whoopi repay her mom? Her mom told her I want three things: an English Beaver Bowler Hat, an Ermine Coat, and a Bugatti. Whoopi got her all of those things, even though her mom couldn’t drive. So, Whoopi told her to learn how to drive.
Whoopi loved her mom so much that her mom’s final resting place is at Disneyland’s It’s a Small Word ride and the flowers. Every time Whoopi went, she would bring a little of her mom’s ashes with her and spread them on the ride. What a great place to have be your final resting place, at the Happiest Place on Earth.
