ABC gets Schooled on January 9th!
November 28th, 2018 under The Goldbergs. [ Comments: none ]

After too long of a delay, Schooled finally has premiere date. The sitcom based in the ’90s will debut Wednesday, January 9th at 8:30p after The Goldbergs on ABC, the show it is spun off from. The spinoff will focus on Adam F Goldberg’s old high school where Lainey (AJ Michalka) is now a teacher. I guess she and Barry do not work out.

The pilot was shot for last season, but the bad network heads decided not to pick it up. After some fan coercion, they aired the pilot as a test. And it passed with flying colors. Doing better than most of their other sitcoms at the time. Therefore, they picked it up for this season. Yet, they stupidly decided to hold it until now. Big mistake.

Another mistake is I do not know why they are nothing doing a retro night of comedies. Like lead the night off with the Kids Are Alright that based in the ’70s, followed by The Goldbergs from 1980’something and ending their night in the ’90s with Schooled and Fresh Off the Boat. How rad would that be? Totally groovy, right?

Back to the schedule. What happens to American Housewife? It will replace The Conners on February 5th. The latter completes its season the week beforehand. When it comes to AH, I am glad they have a lot of faith in this show. If you have not seen it, check it out tonight because it is really funny.

Is this the best Hall & Oates costume?
October 24th, 2018 under Hall & Oates, Halloween, The Goldbergs. [ Comments: none ]

Throughout the decades, people have been dessing up as Hall & Oates for Halloween. Tonight on The Goldbergs, Erica (Hayley Orrantia) and Geoff (Sam Lerner) dressed up as the duo. Not the rock band, but 2 things that make you feel better when you are sick. Halls cough drops and Quaker Oats oatmeal.

I don’t know why, but it made my dreams come true. Did they make Daryl Hall and John Oates say, “I can’t go for that?” Since I found out about it on their Twitter page, I think you guess the answer. They are the love train too!

The Goldbergs book a killer guest for the Halloween episode
September 21st, 2018 under Robert Englund, The Goldbergs. [ Comments: none ]

When The Goldbergs ended last season, they got Rick Moranis to reprise his role of Dark Helmut from Spaceballs. This season, they have another 1980somthing legend reprising his role in disguise for Halloween. One that has been haunting our nightmares since 1984. Of course, it is Robert Englund, but you probably know him as Freddy Krueger.

The ABC sitcom broke the news today, and I am so excited because I love the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. But I am surprised that the real Adam F. Goldberg went there because yesterday he tweeted this about Englund retiring from the role, “NO! There’s only one Freddy! Robert Englund can’t retire! Elm Street 3 scared the CRAP out of me when I was a kid. I was so terrified I slept in the hallway for a week, but then became a superfan. Someone has to do something to keep the nightmares alive!” To me, 3 was the best one and so not scary. I laughed at some of the kills like the girl who got her chance to be in TV and the roach motel girl. So funny.

It is not about me, it about another great get for The Goldbergs. Although, why is it whenever these actors reprise their characters on the show, they declare they will never do them again? Things that make you go hmmmm? Oh, wait that is a song from the ’90somthing.

Anyways, The Goldbergs pays homage to Sixteen Candles for Adam’s 16th birthday next Wednesday on ABC.

Adam and his sMother recreate that Sixteen Candles moment!
September 14th, 2018 under The Goldbergs. [ Comments: none ]

There are many memorable moments from Sixteen Candles. There is the underwear scene, the hair trapped in the door one, the Long Duck Dong sharing an exercise bike moment, but the most iconic one comes at the very end of the movie. That is when Sam and Jake share a birthday cake on a table.

I never thought anyone could ever ruin my teenage fantasy of being on that table with Michael Schoeffling, but looks The Goldbergs is going to do it on the season premiere that pays homage to the cult favorite on September 26th. You know what, I am OK with it. That is because I know Adam F. Goldberg will make just as satisfying. Well, not satisfying in that way because no parent should be the Jake Ryan. And as we know, Beverly Goldberg is not your average mom. That is why we love her and the sitcom that is based in 1980something.

UPDATE: The Goldbergs recreates a Farmer Ted moment with Dave Kim. To see which one, then click here!

Rick Springfield gets his 1980’something on for The Goldbergs
August 24th, 2018 under Rick Springfield, The Goldbergs. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the ’80s, Rick Springfield was all about not talking to strangers, Jessie’s Girl and playing a doctor on General Hospital. You can say he was Hard to Hold.

Now in 2018, he is going back to the ’80s to play the owner of a Karaoke bar on The Goldbergs. The announcement was made yesterday and as soon as the rocker blew out the 69 candles on his birthday cake, he shared a photo from the set.

The ABC sitcom’s costume department did not style him like he styled himself back in the day. Instead he is wearing a leopard print scarf on his head and a brown shiny suit. Which is a good thing because, I am sure, the show did not want him to look like the poster on Erica’s wall. That would be very confusing.

Now back to Erica, I mean Hayley Orrantia and her TV sMother Wendi McLendon-Covey; they both looked thrilled to share the stage with the rock star. Can you blame? He is still groovy to the max even though he is 364 days away from turning 70. On that note, to see him celebrating his birthday on the set, then click here!
