Melissa Rivers gifts Sherri Shepherd presents from Joan Rivers’ house
January 8th, 2024 under Sherri Shepherd, The Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers. [ Comments: none ]

Sherri Shepherd has a daytime talk show, and she has four green rooms for her guests. Those green rooms are named after four female comedians that she idolizes: Lucille Ball, Marsha Warfield, Whoopi Goldberg, and Joan Rivers.

Today, when Joan’s only daughter, Mellisa Rivers, was on Sherri, she had a heartfelt gift for the talk show host. The presents were two pillows with dogs on them from Joan’s library on the couch of her penthouse apartment.

You can tell that sweet little gesture meant so much to Sherri. She didn’t know whether to cry or smile like a little girl. So, she did both.

Sherri also told a story about Joan. After Sherri was let go from The View, she didn’t think she would work again because Hollywood might’ve forgotten about her. And Joan told her, “Sherri, funny girls always work.” And Sherri has been working nonstop since then.

Stories like this make me feel like I have a heart. One of the reasons why I like Sherri so much is that she put in her dues. And she doesn’t forget how hard she had to work to get to where she is now. She remembers the people who got her to where she is now, and she makes sure to honor and thank them.

And that is what makes her such a good daytime talk show host and why so many people support her.

Now, if she can support my friend who used to design clothes for her! LOL! What? I want to help my friend.

The Celebrity Apprentices talk about Joan Rivers
January 19th, 2015 under Donald Trump, The Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers. [ Comments: none ]
Last Spring, Joan Rivers taped two appearances on NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice and the first one airs tonight at 8p. On Friday at NBC’s TCA Winter Press Day, Donald Trump, Executive Producer Mark Burnett and the remaining contestants talked about the legend appearing on tonight’s episode.
Trump said that it might be one of the best in the show’s run because she helped him with making a tough decision. He described her work as his adviser as, “She was fantastic. She was strong. She was vibrant.”
The late comedian also appears on episode later this season, and it was filmed just days before she went in for that fateful surgery. Therefore, they had decide whether to air her episodes or edit her out. The production team decided to turn the episodes into a tribute to the past winner. In turn, they got to spectacular shows in her honor.
Now we know how the bosses feel about her, so how did the employees feel about meeting her. Vivica A Fox, who has been in the business for more than a few years, said they were all star struck when they saw her. Then she added, “When she walked in, we were all so very pleasantly surprised. It was like Joan!” What advice did the Season 2 winner have for them, the actress said, “She was very kind, very honest, and a hard worker, and that’s what she told us would make us successful on Celebrity Apprentice.”
Kenya Moore is never one who has a loss for words and she had several to say about Rivers. She said, “She’s this little powerhouse of a woman, very short in stature, but she was so big in heart, and she got around really well.” The Bravo Housewife added, “She made us all feel welcome, and she just really made us want to raise more money for our charities and give it all we have.”
Finally, for Geraldo Rivera it was a long due reunion for the two. Back in the early ’90s the two of them had daytime talk shows and taped next to each other. He was grateful to see his neighbor again, which made it so much more upsetting when she died just days later.
For now let’s not focus on her death, let’s focus on the great legacy she left behind including The Celebrity Apprentice.

RIP Joan Rivers
September 4th, 2014 under Obits, The Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers. [ Comments: none ]

Joan Rivers passed away today at the age of 81 a week after suffering cardiac and respiratory arrest during a routine surgery.
Her daughter Melissa released this statement about the passing of her mother.

“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother.
Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated.
My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”

Rivers kicked down doors for female comedians and many of them would not be where they are today without her. She was also the first late night female host, opening the door for people like Chelsea Handler.
But the thing she will be remembered for in the latter part of her life was critiquing people’s clothes on the red carpet at all the major awards shows. Something that made her an enemy to a lot of celebrities, but a hero to her fans.
So today, let’s remember her for the laughter she gave us and keep her spirit alive with joy and not sorrow.
